We have 2 EVO's and 2 cars with Microsoft Sync. My wifes never had a problem with her iPhone but now with the EVO, it drops bluetooth connection even on calls. I have no problem with my EVO. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Robert

Only had my EVO for 2 days but I am also experiencing "spotty" Bluetooth performance. I have both a Bluetooth headset (Plantronics BackBeat) and in-car bluetooth (Toyota Camry, JBL system).

The car seems to work "ok"...the initial connection is rather slow and, after making a call, it takes quite a while for music to start playing again.

The headset has been hit or miss. I'll sometimes have to power the headset on and off a time or two to get it working. Did not have these problems with my Pre.

Short answer: I agree something seems to be amiss with the EVO.

Mine was doing it too, but then I realized there was a notification that asked if SYNC could connect... If you select yes, then your are good to go from now on. Before I selected it, I didnt see the notification as it goes away?? The Evo will connect to SYNC, but a min or so into a call and it disconnects. So keep an eye out for the notification. Im sure you can find it somewhere in the BT menu on the Evo. One other issue I have with my SYNC..everytime I push the media button on my trucks nav/SYNC it automatically connects the BTAudio, and starts the Evo music app, and starts playing one of the few preloaded songs... How can I stop this from auto connecting, and second, and can I stop the Evo from auto playing music...?

The Bluetooth phone connection for my Audi disconnects at will and has been horrible. I Had this car for years with different phones & never had this. I wish someone could help since this is an important daily function for me.

I have Microsoft Sync in a 2010 vehicle and yes bluetooth sucks. I dont know if it has to do with sync or bluetooth period. The settings menu will free if you try to turn of bluetooth while phone is on. If you turn bluetooth on after you get in the car then it seems to work....But no easy connection getting in and out of car unfortunately. You can stop media player or pandora from starting when connected by downloading the paid app "autostart" . Then go to "Media button pressed" and disable Music, Pandora and any other apps. Now music want auto start when bluetooth does work correctly.

My Evo has been flawless with my Parrot MK6100 & older Parrot 3100, both for calls and music. Infinitely better than my TP2, although that isn't saying much...

After hard reset, it seems to be fixed.

So your saying if I whipe my phone clean it could fix the problem? Sorry for the newbie reply but I have been setting up everything just the way I want it for the last week now and starting over would suck. If I used some sort of astro restore could that still solve the problem but save my settings and app stuff? I am used to having NVbackup on my treo sd card and I could easily get back anything needed.

I had this happen with MY phone today. It was my wifes EVO first in her car with sync and now my car with sync with my phone.

On MINE, here are the results. After multiple tests I narrowed it down to it only happening when wifi was turned on. If I turned wifi off, no problem, but within a minute of turning wifi back on, my car would notify me that the phone was disconnected. After confirming this with multiple attempts, I turned off my EVO and turned it back on. I could then use the phone with wifi and without the bluetooth dropping.

I did not reboot the wifes EVO and did the hard reset for other issues so I am guessing that off/on would have been sufficient for hers also.

I sure hope I dont have to go and toggle wifi on and off every time I get in the car.

More info on my bluetooth issue. I went out today and noticed that the bluetooth was dropping again with wifi on. I power cycled my phone and now bluetooth works again with wifi on. I came home, wifi connected to internet and I got in the car and the bluetooth was dropping again.

After a power cycle, the wifi and bluetooth can both be on as long as the phone has not had any wifi signal. Once it does, it blocks bluetooth.

I believe that wifi & bluetooth share the same antenna
so yes you can hear glitches or stalls in file transfer performance when both wifi & BT are on.

Its not that I am hearing something. The phone will not stay connected to bluetooth if wifi is on.

hmmm,
I was connected to my s9hd bluetooth headset, listening to podcasts while astro was transferring files over wifi.... couple of pauses never a drop. Total time of use is only about an hour, so limited testing.

Bluetooth disconnection issues

I had a similar problem...
Bluetooth would just disconnect frequently. I turned off my Wi-fi and the problem went away. It might be doing the same in your car (maybe trying to find the wi-fi from your house or office. I hope this helps!

Bluetooth Disconnect Problem - Resolved?

I wanted to let the forum know something that just worked for me. I'm a new EVO user who previously had a Pre. I had no problems with the Pre using Bluetooth in my car.

With the EVO, the first thing I noticed was that it would dial too many numbers if I had an ext number in a contact. I looked through the forums and determined that a solution was to subsitute "ext" or "x" with a semicolon. I did this. However, I then noticed that Bluetooth would hand or simply disconnect on me.

I then substituted the semicolon with a comma, and all seems to work good now. These issues are impossible to track so I don't know whether the problem was the Bluetooth software in Android or my Audi.

Anyway, I wanted to share it. Hope this helps someone.

I have similar experience with this Bluetooth/Wifi Issue.

I leave my WiFi on my phone so that it picks up the hotspots I use when I am in range.

I walk to work for about 20 minutes each morning, and listen to podcasts through my Jawbone ICON A2DP headset. There are several occasions that the bluetooth just drops, and then about 20 seconds later reconnects. It seems to coincide with hotspots coming in range as I walk by various apartments. On my 20 minute walk it happens about 2-3 times.

I have a rooted EVO and have experienced with with both stock and Fresh ROM's. So I don't think it has anything to do with the ROM. I have read several posts in the HTC Desire forums with the same issues, so maybe it is an android issue.
