My laptop hard drive crashed, just got it back. My contacts synched fine from the phone (Evo Shift) to Outlook, but the calendar items in the phone did not synch into Outlook calendar? Any suggestions?? Appreciate anything. I was using Google calendar, but I do like Outlook better.

Thanx

Leslie

Are you using a windows computer or mac computer? HTC has a sync program that will allow you to sync your evo calendar to your ms outlook calendar.

Also, you can sync your evo calender to google calendar and then export the google calendar to a .csv file to your computer and then use outlook to import the .csv file to your outlook.

You can set you google calendar to have all events as "private" by default. I would recommend using google calendar (in my humble opinion) due to the seemless integration of google with your phone. Google has a free sync program for windows computers so your google calendar can sync with outlook. You can have this free sync program run automatically when you have an internet connection.

I use Windows. I've been using Google but I always forget to open it, so I miss any reminders I have in there. Of course, the reminders come up on the phone, but . . . .

Can you tell me where to find the instructions to: export the Google calendar to a .csv file to your computer and then use outlook to import the .csv file to your outlook?

What does setting the events to private do? If my Google calendar syncs with outlook, will I get each reminder twice?

Thanx for the help.

First off, are you using Outlook as an exchange account or for POP (hotmail)? If you are using Outlook for an exhange account, it should be just a matter of relinking or adding the exchange account back on the phone and making sure that it is set to sync. If you have it set to a POP acccount, like hotmail, Google has a connector that can sync both your Outlook calendar (not related to hotmail) and your google calendar - you choose how data is applied.

You can find it here: Getting started with Google Calendar Sync - Google Calendar Help

Thanx. I have a POP account. I'll give this a try when I get home from work tonight. Thanx for all the help.

Turn of the sync from either account under the accounts and sync in settings.....if that doesn't work, go into the desktop sync for google and choose which calendar you want to be prime and how information is added or overridden......

I guess I'm just Google challenged because I can't find any of this. Thanx for suggestion, I will keep looking.

When your logged into google calendar.....
1) go to "calendar settings"
2) select calendars
3) you will see links for "import" and "export".
4) once you select the appropriate link, you will have a dialog box that opens up and allows you to choose a .csv file format.
5) name the file what you want, choose the location you want to save it to and then save it.

Once you do this then you have your google calendar events in you outlook. Just be warned....if you have some events on your google and some events on your outlook then you could run into duplicate events here and there.

To import events to outlook....
It's been a little while since I've used MS Outlook because I've had a macbook for almost 2 years now. Go to your start menu on your windows pc and select "help and support". You can type in import calendars into Outlook....Windows should give you a detailed help article on how to import events into outlook. Make sure that you don't have the same events in outlook as you do in google calendar though...again, you can have duplicate events.

I highly recommend that you back up both outlook and google calendars before importing/exporting. Go to Google Sync services to find links to the sync options that google has. I would recommend trying to use a google sync program rather then import/export for you...it seems like the google sync options would be more user friendly for you. With the PC google sync you can choose one way syncs or a two way sync. So you can choose google to outlook, outlook to google, or two way google/outlook sync.

Google calendar private setting...
On the google calendar, you have the option of sharing your events with the public or with specific people etc. You can share details or just times that you have scheduled. You can also opt for a "private" setting which means no aspect of you events are shared with the public or other users.

What is notifying you twice? I am presuming it is your phone that notifies you twice.

So, from the home screen on you phone...
1) select "menu"
2) select "settings"
3) locate and select "accounts and settings"
4) You will see the various accounts that your phone is synchronizing. I'm taking it that your outlook calendar is your primary calendar....so you can go to your google account and and select it.
5) You will see three check boxes: mail, calendar, and contacts
6) Uncheck the calendar box
7) hit the "back" button until your on the home screen.
8) open the "calendar" program
9) select "menu"
10) select "more"
11) select "calendars"
12) You will see a list of calendars. Unchecking the calendar will stop it's events from being viewable in the calendar program.

Following these steps should stop the google reminders and continue the outlook reminders. Remember to always sync your phone with your computer though because outlook events are synced via the htc program that came with the phone. Google calendar is synced over the air which means any changes you make on your phone will be synced with google. So, if you loose your phone before you can connect it to your computer and sync it via the HTC program to your outlook then it doesn't matter. If you depend on synchronizing your phone with outlook then make sure you connect it on a regular basis to your computer and use the htc sync program.

Just my thoughts.

Sorry, I thought I had said, it's not the phone. I synced Google calendar to my Outlook calendar, and I get notification from each of those. I would like to have notification from Outlook only

Well, to turn off reminders in google calendar... Sign in to
Google calendar and go to "settings". You should see a wheel icon in the upper right corner. Click on that and then click on calendar settings. Click on calendars. After you do that the google calendar settings should have your calendr(s) listed. Select notifications and delete the preset notification by selecting the x button. To stop your cuurently scheduled google events you will have to delete them or manually open up each and turn off the alarm for each google calendar event.

Thank you! I didn't realize I had to remove the reminder on each individual one already on the calendar. This seems to have done the trick!
Thanx
