evo calendar

Thanks alot I was going to ask the same questions about the calender coming from a Pre myself.

I have several Google calendars going on my Evo right now. I have my primary Gmail calendar, and then I have 4 calendars from my work's Google Apps account. I had to share them with my personal Gmail account so they'd show up on my calendar (Android only shows the primary account's calendars AFAIK).

The only other issue I had to work through was the colors. Not all of the colors that you can assign to calendars from Google will show up on the Evo (they'll revert to red if they don't work). I found that the bottom three rows of colors in the Calendar page work on the Evo, which gives some flexibility, but I couldn't use my previous favorite colors. Not too bad, but hopefully they'll fix that someday. It's being tracked by the Android developers as a bug.

The calendar is the only area in which I feel the Evo isn't as strong as the Pre. The Pre's calendar was brilliant.

From what I've seen of 2.2's calendar, it will be closer to what we Pre users were used to, so I'm holding out for 2.2 before I buy any new calendar app. I think the 2.2 calendar will be what we're looking for.

I don't think 2.2 will matter on the EVO, because the Calendar app on the EVO (the one discussed here) is an HTC application and the 2.2 calendar you've seen is probably the stock Android calendar that will come with 2.2. I've not found any way to get the stock Android calendar app onto the EVO, nor can I find it in the market. Maybe I'm just confused, but it seems like unless you root you'll still be stuck with HTC's calendar app and not the 2.2 calendar application direct from Google.

Anyone find a way to get stock Android calendar working? I really don't like the sense calendar and am having no luck on a work around.

Two words: Calendar Search

Yes, there was a lot I loved about the WebOS calendar, but for me at least, the lack of a search function severely crippled it. (although there was a third party app that did a pretty good job, calendar search should have been built in and integrated into Universal Search).

I really miss the accordion fold to collapse spare time though. That was a great UI idea. Google, are you listening?

Agreed. I was hoping for more of what Google showed in the 2.2 previews for the calendar, but it turned out to be much of the same (which is not altogether a bad thing). I'm finding that now that we're almost three months out from when we got the phone, I am completely acclimatized to the new calendar and I find it quite useful. Maybe not as pretty as it was in WebOS, but most definitely useful.

Is there a way that I can change the view from the calendar on my EVO from month to week? I currently have the month calendar taking up one of my screens but I'd prefer to see the week view for ease of tracking what's going on.

Pete

I also have a problem with my EVO calendar since 2.2. I cannot get to an edit prompt. If I hit "menu" , i just get options to: 'add reminder", "delete", "share" or "agenda"..
Any ideas?

Thanks
