EVO running VERY SLOW and LAGGY!

Hey all- I'm a new Evo owner, running Android 2.2 unrooted.

The phone was factory reset when I got it a couple of days back, but the performance has been rather slow. For the most part it's alright, but every once in a while it slows down considerably.

For example, I was listening to music in the car, and the phone started stuttering the music. After powering down and up again, the issue stopped. But I noticed it definitely did it later the same day after I had a few apps open.

Similarly, there are times when I unlock the phone (after receiving a message or email for example) and the drop-down bar takes about 4-5 seconds before it responds to me 'pulling it down'.

I checked my running apps and nothing out of the ordinary seems to be running. I was running all the apps on my previous phone (Epic 4G) just fine with no lag.

Do you think the fact that I used MyBackup to restore all my apps from my Epic instead of downloading each one individually from the market could be contributing?

I know the phone is supposed to be very fast, so I think I'm having some sort of isolated issue (not indicative of the phone's general performance).

Any help would be appreciated?

I would think about maybe get a app called appbrain from the market and sync up with that. Then I would remove them and install again. There could be some info left over from your old phone that is causing the issues. If it still happens after that i would suspect a app of some sort is maybe doing it.If that's the case then i would either uninstall some till the problem stop or get a app like astro or anything that has a process manager and see what is eating cpu. Then you can just remove that app that's eating cpu.

could be the phone software itself too. if the above post doesn't work. you might consider wiping out the phone and reloading the software. it may seem overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it. it's a total breeze.

you siad you powered down. try pulling the battery.

Sounds like a lot of apps running in the back ground....try menu-settings-appications....running services.....you'll get a list of programs running....you can stop the ones you know you don't want running....check this every so often...a lot of programs auto start or continue to run even after you have exited them.

also, try loading one app a day and see if that helps you narrow down what app could be causing problems

Also, try running with 4G off for a while...I notice that when I have 4G on for a while I start to get laggy....

do you have any task killers running? if so, i recommend setting it so it doesn't autokill anything and only using it to kill processes when necessary.
