Evo software 4.24

I had to get a new evo thanks to a friend pushing me into a pool with my phone in my pocket..... I just got back from my honeymoon and am trying to root my new evo, except it doesn't seem to be able to.. It has a new software on it 4.24.651.1 and I do not like it! I want my gingerbread back!!!! I've been trying to use revoked on it since that is what I used on my original phone, but it wont work. It wont allow me to do the volume down and power option either.. WTF, has sprint made it to where I cant root this phone now?
