EVO unable to find HTC Sync w/Vista OS

Anyone else having this issue with their Vista-32 bit OS?
I've seen one previous thread with this same issue but on a diff OS (Win 7) but none specifically with Vista. I've installed and uninstalled HTCSync.2.0.31 and HTCSync.2.0.35 to no avail. I can mount as a disk drive but not able to sync with PC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I can not get the evo to sync with windows 7.

USB wire sync is so 1990's. cut the cord.

make sure the USB drivers are uninstalled in Windows device manager and then install the version of HTC sync that comes on the sd card with the phone.

That fixed it for me.

Intall HTC Sync (new version from site) first on the computer. Then plug EVO in to usb, select on the the menu in the EVO, HTC Sync, the drivers will then load in the computer. Start HTC Sync on computer and it should work. I works fine with me in Windows 7 64 bit.
