Here is how it started...
My phone was fine on the way to dinner. I went into the restaurant, left my phone charging in the car. When I came back and pushed the power button, my phone started into a restart loop.

I have searched and could not find anything useful. Most times I find a similar problem, the advice to fixing it is far beyond what my phone is currently able to do.

When I power on normally, it goes to the first white screen "HTC Evo 4g" in black writing. It then will turn off or repeatedly reboot never making it past the first splash screen. I see a lot of people having problems about rebooting at the yellow 4g splash...but never where I am having issues.

I have held down volume control and power to boot into bootloader. It scans sd and says this:

SD Checking...
Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PC36IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36.IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!

I have found this issue on the web as well, but most people say to reformat and flash it then...so I attempt this. Reformat and put the rooted pc36img.zip at the root of my sd. Bootloader, update using zip, restart. Same problem restarting at first splash screen.

If during bootloader I scroll down to recovery, when I hit the power button it restarts my phone. I did do a nandroid backup, and a titanium backup. But without recovery I can not access nandroid.

HBoot USB does connect to my computer. Computer shows Android 1.0 device connected. But I can not find anywhere that tells me how to force my phone to flash using command terminals.

Additionally...every once in a while when I try and restart my phone in bootloader, screen will shut off, vibrate 5 times, and the LED will blink green instead of amber. I have to pull battery and unplug, put battery in, and replug for my phone to respond at all at that point.

What I have done before this all went to hell?
EVO (bought close to release date...so hardware is not the newest *if that matters)
Rooted using Unrevoked (don't remember if it was 3 or forever)
ROM CM 6.1.1 (using Rom Manager)
Recent nandroid and titanium backup

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? I am not very good with technology...but i mess around a bit when I'm bored and I get my hands on the computer and find sites like this that kind of teach me how to mess my phone up. That being said...if someone does know what to do...can we get in contact to talk me through it step-by-step?

I'm leaving this coming Monday, and returning Friday...if I don't have my phone o well...just sucks for my family since there will be no other way of contacting me. I would like to have my phone back by then. I don't care if its rooted still, has a custom rom or stock...I just want it to turn on and be able to call.

Boot into the boot loader, scroll down with the volume button to recovery hit enter to select.

Once your in your recovery, go down to wipe data/cache and confirm. Reboot and you should be good, really wierd that it did that to you I've never heard if anything like that in stable software.

I think he said that he can't get into recovery that was one of his problems he stated try instead of putting a pc36.img in your phone put the amon RA recovery pc36.img file or the clockwork recovery file on the sdcard and let it look up like it dose at the bootloader screen and let it do its thing it should give you the recovery screen now do what the other poster said wipe all the cache and all and flash and you should be back up and running you'll need to find files that say pc36.img those are not the roms but recovery images that come pack I know there's a post up with it some where I had used it when I got jammed up a few weeks ago and another poster helped me out

What recovery did you make your last good nandroid with?

I am attempting this right now...I'll let you know how it goes...thanks

Like PrittyBoy's said, when I click on recovery it restarts my phone. Thank you though.

Good question...shoot...since i was using Rom Manager I let myself get lazy...I made a nandroid backup when I had recovery Clockwork 2.6.0.1 (at least that is the file name that I found in my clockworkmod > recovery folder

Ok easy enough, here's a PC36IMG.zip file containing only clockworkmod 2.6.0.1 - this will let you re-flash your last good nandroid. (download it here: PC36IMG.zip)

Copy this to the sdcard of your phone (you may have to mount it in something else if you can't access to it from your phone).

Power off your phone, with the sdcard in place and this file on it, press the vol down and power button until the bootloader loads, it will scan the card and ask if you want to update, hit yes to apply it, after it's done hit no to reboot, then select recovery from the menu, it will hopefully bring you in to clockworkmod recovery where you can go to backup and restore, pick your last nandroid to restore and be on your way.

I reformatted my card to Fat32 again...placed the PC36img.zip into the root. Bootload read the file, updated recovery. When I restart my phone and scroll down to Recovery, it still just restarts my phone. Whats next?

Just tried with the PC36img.zip you listed. Bootload, updated from zip, clicked volume down to say No to restart, went to recovery and click power button. Phone restarted.

So I figured out, only when I click recovery my phone shuts down, vibrates 5 times, and the led blinks green instead of amber.

Did it restart it in to recovery or in to the bootloader?

What version hboot do you have? It's at the top of the bootloader screen..

Something is weird here, if your phone just started doing this out of the blue and won't boot recovery from a fresh flash it makes me think some kind of hardware/memory issue, but lets see what hboot you have first.

Do you have the android SDK or adb installed on your computer?

(I have to run to work now, takes about an hour and a half to get there but will check this once I get there).

When I click recovery, it does not restart. The screen turns off, vibrates 5 times, and the LED blinks green. At this point I have to pull battery for it to respond to any hard key presses.

I believe I have ABD installed because I used unrevoked to root my phone. When I plug my phone in and use HBOOT USB it says "Android 1.0 device connected" under devices

Another note...*don't judge har har*...my wife downloaded the Restaurant Story game and I decided to play with her on my phone...it was going on in the background when I was at dinner...maybe it overloaded my memory and destroyed my phone!?!?!

Update:

I followed up on some of the links through the google link a couple posts above...I have tried multiple pc36img.zip files. One of the more promising looking ones didn't work...but did change some things.

It went from this:

Also, I no longer am getting the 5 vibrations and a green LED anymore (hopefully this is a good thing). When I try and go into recovery, my phone starts the never ending restart loop at the first splash screen.

Another question, does this matter:

Loading...[PC36DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!

Do I need this DIAG.zip??

THANK YOU for everyone helping me :) Im going to have to buy some people some beers when they get me back on track!

have you tried to flash a stock shipped rom?it worked for me when my evo got stuck on white screen..you got to have htc sync on your comp..and it should work

Oh man that hboot 2.02 sucks, you'll have to reformat your partitions or at lest re-flash your kernel.

But at this point I might suggest trying to run a RUU (rom update utility).

I think there might be a real hardware memory or overheating problem with your phone. After this all has begun has your phone had a chance to cool off? - I just ask this from what I read in the other thread I posted.

Get: RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.30.651.2_Radio_2.15.00.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_154209_signed.exe

from here: http://goo-inside.me/evo/stock/RUU/

How do you use an RUU? Do I need to find an HTC sync.exe? When I do this...will it override the ABD thing? I remember when I rooted, it said I could not have HTC sync...so I have never used or installed it...

I'll try searching the forums on how to use the RUU...if you guys know of a good RUU thread that can teach me the steps that would be great.

When I use the RUU that you linked me to, it has a connection error with my phone. The only way to connect my phone to the PC is through HBOOT USB...is there something else I need to do? Searching in these forums for a [How to] on RUU found nothing.

I downloaded HTC sync but it could not find my phone, even on HBOOT USB.

To respond earlier, it have let it sit for 5 hours or so not doing anything, in a cold area of the apartment.

you need htc sync installed on your computer and then you run the ruu while your phone is on..or on the white screen.your computer should install drivers for your phone after you install htc sync, therfore it should reconize your phone
