I purchased the orignal Moto Droid when it first came out. At that time, the stock email didn't work properly with our Exchange email at work. I was forced to buy the Touchdown app and that worked just fine. I assume that those original exchange problems have been corrected and exchange would work seamlessly out of the box on the Bionic as it does on my current phone, DINC? I guess my question is to the DX owners and the Droid 2 owners that are using exchange.

Thanks,
Bryan

Being familiar with how Exchange works on Blackberry, iPhone and Droid phones, what exactly do you mean when you say the "problems"...

Does it work out of the box? Yes. I guess my point is how well it works.

I've had the Droid, Droid X, and now I'm on the Droid Pro and the issues have not been resolved in any of those phones. I got a free Touchdown code when I had the X and have been using that on my Pro. There is a huge thread on Motorola's message board and they say they are working on it.

I really want to get the Bionic but I have a hard time believing they can't fix this problem. I've been tossing around all of new 4G phones and they all have their cons but the Bionic has such awesome specs and since I have a working Touchdown license I may go with it. Just sucks to support a manufacturer that can't get this right and I can't see they will get it right on the Bionic if they havent pushed a fix any of their new Droid phones.

If you have touchdown why not I doubt the bionic will fix any issues with exchange of the dpro didn't

On my DInc I enter a few network settings and all my exchange email, contacts and calendar sync with my phone. I also can add a signature to my emails. Best I recall, this wasn't possible with the original Droid. Only way I could get it to work properly is to use Touchdown. Shouldn't be that way.

I have the original Droid and have had it since Dec. '09. Am waiting patiently for the Bionic. I have had few problems with my Exchange email that haven't been resolved and since the last update from Verizon and Moto I haven't had any Exchange issues. Although, that doesn't go to say, it is all okay. The lag issues are horrendous and seem to be getting worse.

I have a DroidX and the stock email app worked with our Exchange server fine. I ultimately used Touchdown though because a lack and unified mailbox feature. I am a network admin and make use of Exchange rules to file and sort incoming emails and alerts into subfolders. With my blackberry, I was able to see all folders at once. With the stock DroidX app I had to manually go into folder and there were no alerts when email arrived into subfolders.

Touchdown does all that and more. It was simple to setup and the cost was well worth it.

So to answer your question, the stock DX email app works but with limited features. I haven't used K9, but I hear its pretty good. Touchdown is my app of choice (I'm a little biased....LOL)

I will be swithcing to the Bionic or DX2 once either of them is announced.
