Exchanging my RAZR

Well I can attest that some of these reps are extremely rude and as the poster above states they do invade privacy.

I went in to pick up the phone today and while she was unboxing the new phone she asked to see my old phone. I figured she wanted to power it down and make sure it doesn't interfere with activation process. I noticed she was taking too long in doing so and I looked over the counter to find her in my corporate email account going through emails. I'm not going to go into details after that but let me tell you, that it's extremely unprofessional.

Why would you buy the first run of a product? Do you really feel like being part of the group that discovers all the manufacturing defects that were caused by faulty design and/or the rush to market? Why not wait a couple weeks?

i pre-ordered my razr, and received it thursday(a day early) and have had no problems with it...

Lol, she was trying to get an edge on the stock market. Can't hate her for that.... for some reason I really don't think she was trying to invade your privacy. She was probably trying to download backup assistant in accounts and hit your exchange account by accident.

My RAZR had two, very visible scratches out of the box, I am returning that one today. I received a replacement, and though there is a minor scratch, this one is not really visible.

For the price you have paid for the phone, it should free of blemishes in my opinion.

Yup, the employees at the VZW store built your phone. They specifically singled you out to give that one too.

If you can't handle the wait, maybe don't buy a popular phone on launch date.

So yours is one in a million. There are always a few defective units that get out, from ALL manufacturers.

These VZW employees deal with customers like YOU pretty much all day every day. So try taking a breath, and enjoying being alive in this time to have a mini super computer communication device in your pocket that is only 7mm thin. Give your heart and these eemployees a break.

Your phone will be replaced whether you are a jerk or not. And chances are, if you're polite, things will go 10x smoother.

Did it ever occur to you the problem might be the store rep?

Locally, there are some VZW stores where the reps are consistently outstanding. Unfortunately, there are also some stores where the reps are flat out jerks. Fortunately, there are plenty of VZW store for me to choose from. That might not be the case for everyone.

Maybe you should dial it back a bit rather than blindly supporting store reps you do not know.

You're absolutely right. I love when I go in to buy a phone and the rep says "I'll be right back with your phone". When he comes back not only does he have the phone but like 15 other accessories i never asked for and they place it down like they are about to ring it all up until you speak up. I actually had one rep tell me that I needed the covers and screen guards, etc because Verizon had a new policy that if one tiny scratch is found on the phone then the warranty is voided!
I enjoy making them take all that sh!t back, they are trained to sneak and do that.

Going in and out of individual emails is not by accident

Even though I was never on Verizon's network I feel the guy's pain! From my experience dealing with T-Mobile and Sprint store reps I can conclude that most of them are morons who don't know what they are selling and half the time don't know what they are doing but will trying to sell more of it. If they don't know how to deal with the issue, they'll just call other reps...and the vicious cycle ensues! Not only that but they love to pull "new policies" out their asses just to make you worry about your new phone and make you buy some useless crap that you don't really need.

My quick story...After about 4 visits to the T-Mobile store trying to get a Vibrant with the best plan for my budget and dealing with those morons, they gave me: 3 completely different prices for the first-time fee - phone, activation, BS fee, and 3 different prices for the plan - I wanted a contract plan for phone discount. After that I said f*** it and ordered the Vibrant by calling T-Mobile...guess what? They messed up: my name, my address, my email, and my contact number! So I had to cancel! At least the phone reps understood the problem, so I had no trouble cancelling. I ended up ordering a Nexus S online for a full price and getting the no-contract plan. Smooth sailing after that.

With that being said, the phone reps seem to be more knowledgeable and helpful but that's like saying getting run over by a regular train is better than getting run over by a subway train because at least your pieces wont be fried on the third rail! You're still end up dead in pieces and you'll still end up getting screwed by your phone company!

I've been really fortunate. The 2 VZW corporate (not premium retailer) stores near me are really good. The reps are phone geeks and provide really good service as well. Been through D1, DX, TB, and Bionic with them.

This store used to be really good, and there are still some good people there, but the last few times I've been there it has been nothing but headaches.

It is the most convenient store to my office, but I may have to switch and start hitting the one by my house on the way home. That store seems to have much better reps.

After dealing with the idiots at the VZW store for over an hour (I won't get in to that), I ran out of the store in a hurry to make it to an appointment, with my new RAZR in hand.

I get done with my appointment and look at the phone (first time looking at it really) and I'm disappointed in a few things. Looking at the screen of the phone, the top left corner is coming apart. It is like it wasn't glued enough...there is a gap that corner big enough for me to be a fingernail, or two business cards in. The other corners aren't this way. Also, when looking at the screen, the bottom right corner "clicks" when any pressure is applied. So, everytime I pickup the phone it "clicks". It's almost like the adhesive in there is sticky enough to make a little "pop" sound as the two pieces separate, but not sticky enough to hold it together.

Looks like I get to go visit with my idiotic friends at the VZW store once more to get an exchange.

Hopefully this RAZR experience gets better quickly.

DH

Perhaps plan your day accordingly and check your **** before leaving the store..

I am in the hating Verizon sales assc. today as I experienced one of the worst privacy issue and unprofessional customer service I have ever had. To sum up the story I had been having issues with Bluetooth connection and the HDMI saying it was connecting when it wasn't all day. Went to a store to exchange it about 6 hours from time of purchase and of course they did a factory reset.

After still experiencing the the HDMI issue the rep then took my phone into the back room for approx. 15 min. He then returned with Ginger root installed on the phone...... which he had just preformed a factory reset on!!! and tried to accuse of of rooting the phone.

I asked what gave him the right to go though my personal files on my SD card, I have work related sensitive information on there which is where the privacy issue comes up, and why did he install something on the phone if he didn't know what it was?

I felt they went too far as I am not the type of person who tries to cover up rooting, I was honest and straightforward with them from the beginning, as I do not root devices until the 14 days are past to make sure the phone works properly. Not only did they go through my personal files without asking me, but they also installed ginger root on the device themselves and then tried to blame me.

I am honestly considering leaving Verizon as I feel that was too far. Thanks for letting me rant. =)

Hard to believe he rooted it. Are you sure?

All I can say is that after reading the OP's posts and comments from others on this thread, that I'm actually happy that I got my Razr a day earlier prior to release via FedUp (FedEx).

Although my experiences with Verizon staff isn't nearly as bad as the OP's was, I was given the run around for a bit when returning my Razr's charging dock (can't charge without taking off the case... deal breaker for me). And that was mostly due to their POS.

Never understood why people exchange their phones 4-5 times over the course of a couple days... Seems to me if you exchange it once, and your still not happy, then maybe it's not the phone for you!

This is why when I buy my phones i tell the sales rep NOT to activate the phone and that i will do it on my own. I walk out with the phone still in the box.

Agreed, its not difficult to activate a device so I will always do it myself.

Funny, I swapped my phone out at the Verizon store today. The upper left hand corner had part of the black casing had a white mark. Kind of like the plastic was buffed out or discolored.

I had not even activated it yet.

It took them about 1 hr to swap out and they insisted on activating the phone instore. Its no wonder they have to staff 15 people in this one tiny store.

This is the one and only time I've ever exchanged a phone. I buy a couple phones per year and hhave NEVER done this prior to yesterday.
