Excited for S10 but nervous to leave iMessage

I’ve had the Max since its release but I’m already getting sick of its lack of customization. I’ve never had a problem messaging when I switch back and forth. But recently I’ve been sending short videos via iMessage. So is it true I will not be able to do this via any Android messaging app if I switch out my Max for the s10+?

You will need to use a 3rd party app and the receiver of the video will also need that same app. WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, Google photos, etc.

Ok then that’s a bummer. I guess then it all depends on where your priorities are. For me it is a consideration but I’m still leaning toward the s10+ or the new Note when it’s released. The vast majority of my messages don’t include images.

Images will send fine via regular messaging app.... It's the videos that will be compressed and blurry.

I send and receive a lot of videos from other iOS users so that's where I miss iMessage when I use an Android device.

Just wondering, someone in another thread said that you can't send scheduled texts with iOS. I use that way more than sending pics or videos, so I was just wondering is this true?

Yes we all get that what's app does most of this but as silly as this sounds having to ask every one you regularly text with install it and register an account and then use said app just for you is an annoyance considering for every one else all those things just happen.

So you are essentially asking your friends to now need to use iMessage for like 99% if their texting and then use a. Third party app for you.

Outside of the United States what's app is huge but in the states it's no where near as used .

For some bizarre reason Americans don't use WhatsApp. Just be like the rest of the world lol and there's no problem.

By scheduled, do you mean send a text at a specific date and time? If so, I do that all the time with the app called Textra.

Chiming in on my S10+. You all forgot you can LEAVE messages on imessage. That is one thing I can grip about when people won't remove you from the chat. You can mute notifications or block them but not leave the group, quick like, love etc. Regardless I've been using the galaxy line awhile and I send pics and vids just fine. If I want it to be high quality (only vids really), I send it via fb messenger. I've never had an issue or a time I couldn't send something easily in a few seconds in high res via my Galaxy to ANYONE.

Google and Sammy just need to actually come up with something that is encrypted, and works smoothly with IOS. Other than that, my phone imo overall is better in a plethora of ways.

I send it via fb messenger. I've never had an issue or a time I couldn't send something easily in a few seconds in high res via my Galaxy to ANYONE.

Glad all your people are on FB messenger to make that easy for you .

Just got my s10 plus Monday. I do miss imessages and being able to send clear video messages. Also it's weird because people I had group chats with , I am not receiving their messages because they're on iPhone. I had them delete the thread and start a new one and it's working now

Very well. Just be sure to send them from within the fb messenger app. Open the app, then click your photos/videos and then click away! Very fast. I only send videos, pictures are of high quality sending via normal texting app.

As an iOS user (for the moment anyhow), I use GroupMe and WhatsApp with my Android Friends & Family because any sort of long-term group message with Android and iOS users will turn out to be a mess. It is fine for a one day sort of thing, but if you want to keep an ongoing room going, using something like GM or WA is WAAAY better.

Honestly if you can get people into a group chat using one of those apps, losing iMessage will not be a big deal. But I understand that can be a huge "if" for many people.

I stopped using Messenger some time ago when it sucked up battery. Don’t know if that’s changed. Still don’t trust Facebook and the way they handle subscriber data.

I doubt that will help. It seems to have nothing to do with what they posted.

I made sure all of my Apple devices including iPad I disabled both iMessage and FaceTime.

I felt it was the appropriate post but I moved to the other one. The poster is having trouble getting out of iMessage system even though he has taken the normal steps to do so.

Longtime Android user. I have a ton of people in my life on iThings. I confess the reason for the debate escapes me and it feels overblown and an extension of the Android / iOS debate. I have never had an issue sending pictures and videos to family and friends and it's a simple process which does not require a computer science PhD as has been suggested. I have not experienced the obviously rampant incompatibility issues others have. If I discovered my videos were compressed, there are simple alternatives that don't require others to install software.

To me, iMessage feels like the safety scissors I had in third grade, but there is no be denying its simple, robust, functionality.
