Hello
Im new to android. This is my first android device although my question is not specifically tab S related ☺ Im an orderly person so I like to close everything I dont use. (I dont like that the back button doesnt close apps so I always use the menu button when I finish using something. However there are some apps that have a dedicated exit button. What bugs me is that even though I use the exit button, the thumbnails are still present in the menu. Did I change something, because I think the exit used to work properly in UC browser before? I mean if my memory serves me right the exit button seemed to bypass this problem before, so I didnt have to close the tabs in the menu. But now im just left confused.

Even if I end all active applications in the task manager, the thumbnail tabs remain in the menu. soo...is this normal?

If you're talking bout the "recently used apps" menu, that's going to stay like that until you clear it. It doesn't mean that the pp is running, it just means that the app was recently running (which you'll appreciate when you start using a password safe and have to switch back and forth between your browser and password save a couple of times to copy and paste your login and password).

No, ever since at least Gingerbread (I cn't recall exactly what earlier versions looked like), the recently used apps list kept the recently used apps, whether they were currently running or not (or even no longer in RAM - which isn't the same thing as running).

Yep. It's just a list. Clear it or ignore it at will. (If the amount of memory it takes keeps an app from running, clearing it won't help - it takes a tiny bit.)

BTW, don't end active apps - Android has an excellent memory manager, and if you end an app that Android wants to keep in RAM, it'll just reload it in a few seconds, slowing the tab down and wasting battery. Let Android do its thing. If it needs the space it'll kill the least recently used app (unless it needs it, then it'll kill the one before that one, etc. - all of which you can't keep track of, but Android does.)
