Expand notifications in shade?

Some notifications for various apps are cut off when they pop up in the shade. On my older galaxy s6 I could swipe down on them and it would expand the notification so I could see the entire text. This doesn't work in my note 7. Is there a way to accomplish showing the entire notification? Swiping to either side dismisses it. Holding brings up the app settings. I read a two finger swipe used to work but it just expands the shade showing all the quick settings. Can't seem to figure out how to show the rest of the notification. Ideas?

Hmm. It works correctly for me. Does this occur with all notifications or just some?

I've only tried it on one so far. Usually the shortened version has enough info that I don't need to expand it. Are you just swiping down with one finger? I'll try to remember to try others if they pop up.

Tried another notification from another app. Won't expand. Just drags the shade further down exposing more quick toggles.
