So, this is a minor issue, but I find it weird, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced the same problem, or if I'm doing something wrong or what!

Here's what I'm doing:
- Take photo
- Tap the "Edit" link
- Choose "Effects"
- With "No effects" selected, tap the Edit icon
- Tap the Add Filter icon
- Choose Exposure
- Adjust the exposure
- Tap "Done"
- Tap Save
- When asked if I want to save the unsaved custom preset, I tap cancel
