Extended Battery

It's like an alien trying to escape the Fascinate's belly!!!! yowzer...wonder if there is any hope of a smaller extended battery as the battery life isn't thrilling me at the moment with the fascinate...

I received my extended battery today and it absolutely DOES NOT fit under the stock cover. Not in a million years could it ever be made to fit, it's HUGE. It comes with a new cover that adds a bump to the back of the phone where the battery is which sticks out a good sixty percent higher above the top of the stock case.

I really like the idea of the extended battery because I'm on the go a lot and use my phone constantly but this thing is enormous...I might use it for a few days and see if it's tolerable but I doubt it.

As of right now, my initial impression would have to be to PASS on buying this accessory.

...but this is true with every cellphone I've ever owned. I gave up on extended batteries years ago because the convenience isn't (IMO) worth the change in the phone's form factor. You need new cases...cradles don't work...etc. YMMV (but I guess you found the same thing ;) )

Just an update, I just dropped off the battery at FedEx to be sent back for return...no mater how many days I would have given to try and get used to it there just would have been no way.

I had it for a grand total of four-ish hours, lol.

That is pretty bad. Hopefully they release a battery only charger/spare battery combo like they did for the Epic.

You can buy a kit from Verizon, it's $39.99 and includes OEM standard battery, battery only charger and charging pigtail (to charge spare battery and phone at once).

Not a bad deal.

Agreed. I bought it at the same time I bought my phone and love it. Although, I must say this phone gets pretty darn good battery life. I don't think I've had to grab my spare once yet.

Here are some pics. First time trying to upload pics from my phone, hope they work.

Car battery? lol. Wow that is big though. That puts it on my "do not buy" list for my phone.

Do you have to flip the battery over to use the other contacts on it or does the battery give you the extended capacity using only one set of the contacts ?

No joke....Wtf are the thinking??? One of the determining factors of buying this device is the size. There is no way I (or probably anyone) would buy that beast!!!!

Now hopefully seidio will come out with an extended that will fit like OEM.

I bought a yoobao extended battery and it won't charge, says non supported battery, please refer to user manual. Is there a work around to charge it besides buying a charging stand? The phone screen also doesn't turn off like it used to. Any ideas?

Anyone get the slim Seidio extended battery? Just wondered if it gave any real life benefits. I think they have a decent sale going on ...

I would be interested to know to. I know nothing about batteries, but playing a numbers game it doesnt look like it is worth it.

An OEM battery is 1500mAh the extended one you are talking about is 1600mAh for more than twice the price for 100mAh more.

I dont know how long that extra will last....

I would rather go this route and save $10 one charger at work one at home...

There is a Naztech extended battery on sale at Amazon.com for $24. Smoother back, no bump, about twice as thick as current. Some decent comments at XDA, search for Naztech. For $24, compared to the $70 I normally pay for extended batteries at Seideio, it is worth a try, and the guys who have it say they like it.

I got the Naztech battery today. I like the fact that the back is flat and there is no hump. So far seems great for the price. Really is not that bad in the hand and it still fits in my leather pouch. The ones sold on ebay appear to be the same though. I have not really tested the battery life but it did charge fine with the comavolt kernel.

I too have the naztech battery. With 7 hours up time with moderate use I lost about 15%, which is a big difference compared to my standard battery.

Bump.

Just want to say that buying this battery was a great investment. I've been unplugged since Thursday night around 10pm. It is now Saturday almost 6pm and I have 40% left. I also noticed while idle at night the phone really doesn't lose any juice.

Well...the only camera I have is in my phone lol. There's a thread over at XDA in the Fascinate Accessories section and someone posted pics in there.
