Extended Charging Cable

I'm looking for an extended charging cable. The one that comes with the device is a little too short. Looking for something semi-official too, I found some on Amazon but they're from like no name companies.. thanks.

I tried an extension cable but no joy. Every time I try it I get the red X over the battery icon. Is there a particular kind I should look out for? The one I have is about 2 years old.
