Hi everyone! Just got an Essential phone from Swappa. (I'm loving this phone).

I just wanted to check with everyone about extended warranties. Usually Swappa has an option at checkout for insurance but one didn't come up when I made this purchase.

Does anyone know another insurance company or am I kind of out of luck?

Essential uses a company called Asurion. You might try emailing support@essential.com and ask if they'll set you up.

I read briefly through the Extended Care service terms and didn't spot anything regarding limitations on when you could enroll. It's probably intended to be done at the time of purchase but they might not have considered second-hand devices or gifts.

Here are the terms: https://phoneclaim.com/essential

Thanks for the reply

I tried going through Essential before, but they said they only offer it at time of purchase. :/ I'll email again and see if another rep will give a different answer, or maybe check if they have any suggestions for second-hand.

I'll send one to Asurion as well, maybe they have something direct.

I usually don't insure my phones, but seeing how difficult a screen repair could be if I crack it (and the possible cost to repair), and with it being a new company, I'm a little nervous.

I read somewhere that Essential sold someone a replacement phone for $400 after they cracked their screen. With insurance costing $129 + $99 for the plan and deductible, you might be just as well off saving the cash on your own and self-insuring.

I'd recommend asking Essential to confirm the $400 number when you email about adding an insurance plan.
