Pixel 7 Pro, which has been giving me problems since restoring it. Yesterday, I set Extended Unlock for both at home and while carrying the phone. Today, Extended Unlock does not work, even after restarting the phone. Other than using, say, Jaws of Life, what do I need to do to fix this?

Just as a personal aside, I am a retired fire chief, in fact I retired from two departments, both of which I organized, equipped, trained, and led as fire chief. I have a few other problems, but I will leave them for later. Meanwhile, please accept my thanks for any good assistance that shall be rendered to me on this question.

In a sense, I don't really know: I was standing still when the phone fell and broke the glass, and what made it want to fall, that I do not know. That was the first time I had ever had to send the phone to the Verizon-associated repair shop. I don't even know how many phones I have owned: Pixel 1/3/7, yes, and likely at least one or two Motorolas before that. Yes, I had dropped it a very few times, and pushed it off of the living room table, with no damage, but this instance did not turn out well.

There is something else I don't know: After I had posted and logged off here, I picked the phone, to be greeted for the first time today that that the phone was awake, using the home setting for that. While I was replying here, I picked the phone after I had been away for perhaps an hour, and it kindly told me that it was unlocked.

I would like to believe that the phone took my "threat" to use the Jaws of Life seriously....

Several times as far as I know, along with too many on-line searches, all to no avail.

The only thing I checked this morning was the extended unlock settings when the home setting was not working, both of which were as I set them, and doubt that doing that turned them back on, but if so, I shall never know. Of course, should the phone again fail to be unlocked at home, I'll check again; otherwise next Monday should be the next time that the phone and I will be away, so that I can see if that setting is working.

The answer has been found; Yesterday, I sort of stumbled across a text file on the phone that among other items covered Extended Unlock. At least with Android 14, that feature turns off after four hours.

In playing around, I found a few things that will turn it off as well; the one I remember is pushing the two buttons to access the shutdown/restart/etc. functions.
