Extending Battery Life

I have a Motorola DROID and the battery life is poor. How can I extend it? Are there any products you would recommend? I was in Las Vegas and someone showed me a device which can charge my DROID up to 3 times. I blew it off thinking it was expensive and now I cannot find it. Is it worth the money?

First thing I would do is turn off the auto brightness feature if it's turned on. A lot of people have said, and including myself, that having it set to a manual brightness (mine is at 30%) is more efficient.

Secondly, turn off unnecessary features such as GPS, WiFi or Bluetooth when you're not using them. Also check your screen timeout, by default I think it is set to 1 minute. I have mine set to 15 seconds. In all honesty, even after the 2.0.1 update, the screen is still what uses the most of the battery, so these changes SHOULD help at least some.

There are some apps that just suck up battery too. I installed Layar on my Droid, and the battery would die in 11 hours or so. I uninstalled that app, and now I last more like 21.

My Droid can normally last me a day and a half if I forget to charge it, but today It got down to 20% on me after 11 hours. The only difference was I made a call continuously for about an hour. Funny thing though, yesterday I streamed 3hrs of music constantly and it only went down to 50%

Calls will drain the battery, so thats completely expected if you made an hour long call. I've seen the same thing, the actual usage of the phone as a phone crushes the battery. And similarly, playing music is not intensive at all with its battery use, the media server just keeps on rocking.

Mine still seems to be ok. On par with the life I was getting on my tour. Can't wait to get an extended life battery that fits with the stock back.
