External hard drive not opening in pixel2.Same drive opens in pixel.

Pixel 2 phone purchased two days ago & using Pixel for last 2 years & no problem observed.Is the new Pixel2 phone defective or something else is the issue. Somebody please help

You're using the little USB C <> USB A adapter that came with your Pixel 2?
I used mine just yesterday and it worked fine.
