External Mic not working - TRS, TRRS?

Hi,

I have a Moto G 2nd gen currently.

I want to shoot quick videos on my phone with good audio quality (instead of using my Zoom H1 all of the time).

I have an external lavalier mix (Boya) and a Rode SC4 cable to convert.

Neither work - the mic on it's own or plugged into the SC4 cable. The built in mic is the one that pics up all of the audio.

Would the SC3 work?

Or are there any Android phones that would accept an external mic?

Or any other external mics that would work? Maybe the Audio Technica?

If plugging in a mic doesn't disconnect the internal one, no external one will work. The video recorder is probably taking audio directly from the mic, not from the jack.

As for other phones, that's not listed in specs or user manuals, so you'd have to go to a store with live display models and a mic and try each one.
