External SD-card encryption - Don't force password lock screen?

Hi,

I'd like to encrypt the external SD-card but the only way to do it is to use a password protected lock screen. Is there any way to seperate the lock screen behaviour from the actual SD-card encryption? I'm using the "lock with on/off" lock screen option in order to avoid accidential calls when carrying the phone in my pocket. But typing the password every time for just unlocking makes the phone not really usable for me. So I have to do without SD-card encryption. Is there a way to use the encryption without the password lock screen?

Other phones differentiate between locking the screen (to prevent accidential actions) and locking the phone for security reasons. E.g. lock the screen when pushing the "lock screen" button but lock the phone and ask for the password not before a certain amount of time.

Is that possible with the S3, too?

Thanks in advance

I was wondering if you received a response to your question from another source. I'm having the same problem except I have to address this issue with an entire company of approximately 500 users. The additional complexity of the password to perform a simple unlocking of the phone is a burden. It's seems to be the price you have to pay for the security of encrypting your SD card which is the easiest thing to remove and access if the device is lost or stolen. I just don't get it. Why make it so difficult?
