Just wondering what effect the slightly different aspect ratio on this phone will have on applications. Will they need to be resized or will they stretch to fill the gap?
Is this ratio going to become a new standard?

i don't see this taking over the popular wvga standard.

apps will (pretty much) all work so long as they work on a standard wvga resolution. the phone just seems to scale them to fit, and since it's barely different, there is no noticeable loss in quality.

Theres alot of tiny bits of change in android phones out there, so it seems as though each phone has the ability to register how many pixels it has along with size and make the app fit its screen better.

I was reading on this the other day, and it adds up to almos an extra 90000 pixels. 854X480 = like 409,900 pixels, and a 800x480 has like 320,000 pixels. 854x480 has roughly 22% more pixels.........Seems worth it to me! Look at text on a Moto Droid next to a Dinc, and u'll see the difference!

Actually 800x480 = 384,000 pixels. An increase of only about 9%.
