I bought my epic on 8/31 at a Best Buy in Cali. When they rang up the price, they charged me sales tax for the retail value of he phone ($700 retail value), as opposed to charging me sales tax on the discounted price of the phone. Anyone else get raked on the sales tax?

I would go back and complain, they shouldn't do that, or I would go to a diffrent store and buy from them. Did you buy it subsidized?

Yep, California tax laws say they have to charge the sales tax on the full retail value of the phone. Sucks, but that's the law.

I hate the stupid sales tax. Especially when buying something on eBay from a California seller.

Yes. I forgot about this too. Was thinking the tax was gonna be on 200 which was the remaining amount I paid on the day I picked it up.....

But instead it was full base price of the phone.... tax came out to be about 55 bucks.
