Extreme Power Saving Mode not working?

Last night I went to sleep with my battery at about 10%. When I woke up, my phone was dead. Here's what I don't get:

I have the phone set up to enter Extreme Power Saving Mode at 5%. Aren't you supposed to get several hours of use at that point? If so, how could my phone have died being that it wasn't even being used? Shouldn't the phone have entered Extreme Power Saving Mode at 5%, and then ceased any background activity that may have been draining the battery?

Anybody have any thoughts? Does extreme power saving mode work for others?

I have tried Extreme Power Saving mode only once when my device was at 10% and it dropped around 2% in maybe 2 or 3 hours, so I suppose it's normal for your battery to die even with EPS on. By the way, I am not sure about the circumstances you're in and whether or not you had a charger available, but I wouldn't recommend letting the battery drop that much anyways because it's bad for it.

When mine gets to 14% it automatically goes into power saving mode. I have not tried extreme yet but does your phone at least kick on power saving mode?

Personally, I think Extreme Power Saving Mode is a joke
My phone can sit on the night stand all night (6 hours?) in regular mode, and drop maybe 5%. In Extreme Power saving mode, it loses the same amount, so I really see no value in it.
The phone is very efficient at idle.
