I think the face recognition in the note 8 was better.. At least so far. But other than that phone is nice!

Face recognition in the Note 8 was not secure at all, in the Note 9 the face scan is mixed with the iris scanner for intelligent scan, which will be slightly slower but secure, which is the main thing.

So far I haven't really noticed a difference from the Note 8. Need more time.

But you can do just a face scan as well so you don't HAVE to do the intelligent scan. I'm referring to just the face scan and the issue wasn't that it is slow, it is that it doesn't recognize my face at all. I keep getting a message telling me the lens must be dirty and they can't recognize a face (brand new out of the box)

How does the face recognition work if you start with a beard and then shave your face? Is that enough to screw it up?

I thought about this then thought Samsung should have provided shaving blades free for the life of the phone, when you get the phone you could have a shave then do the face recognition thing.
It would be easier if you were female but you would lose out on the free blades!
:):):):):)

I actually like the N9 face and iris recognition better. Maybe I didn't have it setup right but my N8 usually took several tries and often failed to recognize.

So far the N9 works quite well. Often before I even get the phone near my face.

I keep in on intelligent scan and in my experience, it's worked a lot better than the Note 8. Only time will tell how it holds up.

really the Note 8 facial recognition was not secure by any means, but the Iris sensor was, in the S9 they combined the 2 apparently to make the intelligent scan.
