It's hard to explain so bare with me. I'm on my second Note 8, this one works wonders, but i have an annoying issue with the Facebook app, where if I close the app by pressing the home button, and i go back to it, it does NOT go back to the status, news feed, or video where I left off. It goes to another section of the app, BUT if I close it one more time and open it again, it goes back to the post where I was originally at. This happened on both notes I've had, i uninstalled and redownloaded the app, several times, and it still does it. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? It's not an issue that happens rarely, it's every single time I use the app. It feels like If I have 2 tabs of Facebook, and no i don't have 2 accounts or the duo option on it.

I am SOOO... keeping FB off this phone, their stuff was always intrusive and battery zapping, if not at first then when they update something minor and grant themselves some permissions in the background, messenger especially I found having it's way with battery, I'll use it on my desktop at work but mobile device now I'll log in using a browser and out when done

Yes, I've confirmed that it happens on my Note 8 and S8+.

I'm going to see what happens when I install an earlier version of the app that I have installed on my S7 Edge which doesn't have that problem.

Ok, so I installed an earlier version of Facebook on my Note 8. Left the app open at a post that was easy to remember. Did some other things on the phone and used some apps. Went back to Facebook using the app switcher and it was right where I left off. Doing these same steps using the most current update would always make the app scroll to the top of the timeline.

The problem is with the newest updates. Not sure when it started.

Which version did you update do you know? I'm trying to go back to one working lol

The one that I have stored in Dropbox is from a year ago, 77.0.0.20.66.

I don't mind running an old version, it just doesn't have the newer features like the colored backgrounds.

Yeah i guess I'll look up for an older apk version cause i dont like this lol

lol the Facebook on Android is just generally horrid. I 100% believe the reports that FB employees had to be forced to use Android phones for work purposes. If you've ever used an iPhone you can clearly see the difference in their app development between the two platforms. I know it's said to be "easier" to develop for iOS but COME ON FB! It's like you're not even trying.

Oh and I agree with you, the main social media apps are developed so slow compared to iOS and not with the same dedication. Just like Snapchat, it looks horrible on android compared to iPhone.

You probably don't have to go too far back to find a version that doesn't scroll to the top when you go back to it. Probably just go back two months or so and install one of those versions. This problem didn't pop up until recently.

I just have a version from May of 2016 because it was without the stupid stories and there's no marketplace tab either. It's simple and not cluttered like the newer versions seem to be.

Hmm, interesting; I cannot get my FB app to duplicate your issue . My FB version is 143.0.0.32.90

Guess what? Today's update fixed that issue!

I've always had different kinds of issues, though mostly annoyances. Photos that wont stay 'enlarged' when I make them bigger (they snap back down to a minimized state), and the news feed that constantly resorts/resets on me!
