Facebook "Links Open Externally"...sometimes

I have my Facebook app setting configured to "Open Links Externally". It only works on ~75% of the articles I click. Can anybody tell me why?

Do you mean the "open links in external browser" choice? Links can force how they're open, so your choice isn't always the one that's used.

In the latest app, Version 101.0.0.18.70, it is called "Links open externally" and has been called this for some time. So you're telling me it's a BS setting? How do links force to open directly in Facebook? Even for a particular facebook page only some of the links open that way. Can I choose that option when I share a link?

A year old but...bump. Anyone find a solution? Seems like half the time it still uses the wack Facebook browser
