Facebook Messenger Notification

So for the past 2 week's when my wife gets a message on Facebook messenger instead of one ding she gets 10 ding's as if she's receiving a bunch of messages when it's only one. I have uninstalled the app and installed it back, cleared the cache as well... Have also restarted the phone. Any help is appreciated.

^ I noticed this also of late.
And also dings for selected facebook alert notifications.
I can't seem to relocate settings to quiet things up.
Can someone drill down details to get to the appropriate settings?

Settings -> Notifications -> Facebook

The same, though I only get five. Have also noticed I always have 1 notification alert icon in the app, but there's never anything unopened.

Thanks. There were just one or two fb notifications set as a sound, all the others no sound. So I changed All to no sound and let's see if that is a fix.

Thank you... The link worked.. did exactly what it said settings/notifications/messenger and turned off "other".

At least you get a ding. Mine has changed to, what I can only describe as, a warm fart.
