facebook notification sound

OK I'm still relatively new to droids (previously had an iPhone 4) but I've adjusted my volume levels for notifications down to the lowest before muting them and Facebook just comes through at the loudest possible. I can't find any way to change this. I've tried diff sounds for it thinking maybe it was just the notification sound I chose and everyone is the same. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong but its driving me insane. Any thoughts?

I've went into my sound settings and adjusted both the music, videos etc one and the notification one all the way down and in the Facebook app I find no setting to adjust the volume

That should do it. I don't think you need a setting in the Facebook app.

I meant ive done that since the get go and the notifications for Facebook still come through super loud.

In the meantime, go into Facebook notification settings and choose "silent" or "none" for the ring tone.

After getting tons of notifications today (gotta love when one of those statuses you comment on everyone feels the need to do so as well) but the sound that's coming through isn't even the ringtone I set for it. I've tried changing it to other ones and its still this same anannoyingly loud be beep that comes to my phone. Not sure if that matters any

Seems that I'm annoyed by the same F/B chime and would at least want to find a way to mitigate its level other than stuffing Google + stickers over my speakers! Thanks in advance for an actual fix!

Solution is....
1) Go to Apps
2) Open Face book App
3) Click on the Menu key of your phone (left side key for Galaxy)
4) Select settings (these are face book settings)
5) Scroll down to notification ringtone and select it
6) Choose your desired sound (Silent)
Ps I am using Facebook for Android App Version 3.7 2013

You can also try an app called Lightflow. It will let you choose a different LED color and sound for each app you have. Very customizable.

I understand your problem because I am having the same problem. I want to have a Facebook notification sound but I want to be able to control the volume of it. For some reason it is not controlled by the notification volume control.I can control the volume of the exact same notification sound in any other app but not when used for Facebook. I am wondering if the app has it's notification settings associated with the ringtone or music/media volume controls?

I tested by adjusting each volume and receiving messages. Facebook notification uses your Ringtone volume. You have to adjust that. SystemNotification/Media don't control it.
