My issue is still there and it is specific to Facebook only. All the other apps work perfectly. There was a Facebook update and still the same issue.

I've been having this same exact problem and I'm at my wits end with it. I'm positive it's a Facebook issue. They can't seem to get anything fixed and quite honestly I dont believe they give two s#$ts about the users. I'd love to get away from them and ultimately it's my choice to stay but jeez it's just so frustrating. Any help would be great.

I've been having the same problem, but I came to this thread because I noticed FB notification volume as the 2nd app to have this problem. My 1st app issue was with UberDriver when I noticed my in-app alert volume was extremely low. In-app settings have the alert volume maxed. When the alerts sound, adjusting the volume via the rocker shows it as "alarm volume" which is maxed out. When I first log in, I get a notification that I am now "online" and that notification is loud. The navigation voice is also loud. It's just the other in-app sounds that are barely audible. Google found me others with the same issue, but no answers. After I noticed FB notifications were also very low, I searched again and found this thread. I'm guessing some apps are having sound compatibility issues with Pie. I think the problem is that it's only playing the sound via the ear speaker and not the speakerphone speaker? Either way - it's not just FB experiencing this. Either the app developers need to figure out how to make it work with Pie, or the Pie developers need an update to make apps work as they did with Oreo. And yes - I checked notification settings in each app, have installed and reinstalled, and have updated both several times since the Pie upgrade.

It would appear no one has resolved the issue and Facebook has pushed out quite a few updates. I believe it is a Pie issue since there have been Facebook updates. This issue only occurred with me when Oreo was upgraded to Pie.

I've always noticed the FB notification sounds are so quiet I can hardly hear them when sampling them. Been that way on the last few phones I've had. LG G6 and GS7. and now the GS9+. I can't figure out why they're so quiet.

I have only started having that issue since upgrading top Pie. Prior to Pie all the sound notifications were good including Facebook. But now it is barely audible!

Try Ringtone Maker to set the level on any sound file higher. (Or you can copy it to a Windows, Mac or Linux PC and use Audacity to do the same thing.)

I tried that in Ringtone Maker and that did not work. In fact I am not hearing anything at all even after adjusting the volume to the max. And this only with the notification tone Sanguine. All other tones are ok.

Since updating to Pie I nave notice the notification sounds for both accounts is very low to the point where it is barely audible. All the other apps are ok and the volumes can be adjusted. But Facebook cannot. Has anyone had this issue? If so how did you resolve it?

OMG!!! Finally someone who understands! I'm going through the exact same thing and I've literally lost my mind trying to fix it. I've disabled the app, deleted the data and cache, re-enabled the app and STILL nothing. No one seems to understand what I'm talking about. I did notice something that the Facebook settings has that the other apps dont and its "device-level notifications". Perhaps this has something to do with it?

I tried that in Ringtone Maker and that did not work. In fact I am not hearing anything at all even after adjusting the volume to the max. And this only with the notification tone Sanguine. All other tones are ok.

So I did some more digging around and found that is definitely a Facebook app issue. On the Facebook app go to Settings & Privacy>Notifications>Push>Tone

Here you can select what sound you want it to make. When you change it you'll notice that it's very low and there are no options to increase the volume. This is where the issue lies.

I got an Android update last night and it seemed to fix my Facebook sound notification issue. It is a bit loud but doable. There was also a Facebook update and that did not cause any issues.

I just got a note 9 yesterday from my manager, everything is perfect except for the Facebook notification sound. Ive literally messed with every setting I could, and nothing has fixed it. I work on phones for a living and this is the most aggravating thing ive ever ran into!

Wait to see if you get a system update plus and Facebook updates. Facebook update the app every week.

Right guys I have same problem, I'm on Android 9, and yes Facebook system , no where to change the notification sound even the vibration, I use an app called notificon - notification sound manager app, here you can set the tone or voice you want to use, so yes you can use another sound that you have increased the volume of, and it works, let me know if you try this.
