My phone updated to lollipop on Monday, and since then my only problem is the stupid Facebook app. Last night it used 50.4% of my battery while I was not using it, and just now while I was at dinner, 64.8% was used by it. I've never seen anything like it.
Last night I installed Greenify and listed Amazon mp3 and Facebook to hibernate. All day today it worked great, until Facebook went wild. When I checked with Greenify, only Amazon was in my hibernate list. I relislisted it, but I'm not sure now if it's a real solution. So...

1) can I really be using Greenify on an uprooted phone?
2) any tips on using Greenify would be welcome, it's not very well directed on the app.
3) is anyone else having issues with Facebook since the update, and
4) if so, have you found a way to control it?

Thanks so much, this is driving me crazy!

Not a Lollipop issue, a Facebook issue. This has been reported (but one more report wouldn't hurt, so use that REPORT A PROBLEM button in the app) and it seems, at least on the beta version, that it's been somewhat fixed. But yes, an update to the Facebook app DID cause battery drain for a lot of devices.

Thank you! I'll report it right now. I figured out with Greenify I have to hiberbate it each time I use it. Not cool.

Wow this makes me feel better. Facebook has eaten my battery so much today it is unreal. So how do we get this to stop? I have a stock lg g3 from AT&T

I deleted the app tonight after I reported it to Facebook. I have to rehibernate it in Greenify way too often, otherwise it wakes up on its own. I'm using Chrome for Facebook right now, frankly, I'm liking it better.

Unfortunately until they fix the bug, the only way to stop it is either to manually Stop the app after you open it every time (through the Application Manager) or to freeze/uninstall the app and just don't use it.

Facebook uses Push notifications, which is why it needs to have a process running in the background and why it 'respawns' itself after a while.

If u saw my earlier post Facebook was killing my battery. I did a factory reset and now my battery life is amazing. I strongly suggest giving it a try
