Hey guys! So i just got my new S8+ and set up facial rec and worked fine until i was watching tv in the dark and went to look at my phone and tried to get in and it wouldn't work. Do any of the experts here know a way to fix it?

It doesn't work in the dark. If it can't see your face, there's no way it can recognize it. I'm not exactly sure how you expect it to work in that situation.

Fingerprints seem to be immune to this phenomenon.

I don't understand why people are struggling using the facial scanner in the dark. It works fine for me in the dark. The lighting from your phone should be plenty light.

That depends. In the dark my screen brightness is at a minimum. Not enough light there for camera to see anything

Easy way to fix this. Get the iphone.

I have issues with face recognition in the dark as well. As somebody else stated, I have my phone brightness reduced. That said, I use the FPS now so do not bother about this.

C'mon guys. A little common sense here would tell you the face scanner won't work in the dark very well. It's only using the front camera without a decent light source and you don't get good selfies in the dark do you? If you're needing to unlock your phone in the dark often which I'm sure is almost everyone it would be much wiser to switch to the Iris Scanner which works perfectly in complete darkness because the Infra Red light is firing at your eyes to light them up without you even realising it. Not only that, Iris Scanner is far more secure than the facial scanner
