It was working for me for a couple days after the Pie update, then just stopped charging. I have to use a 3rd party cable and plug adapter.

Anyone else? If so, did it happen before or after the Pie update? Thanks.

I'm having the same issue, only mine started before Pie came along. I've tried multiple OEM chargers and the don't work at all. Any 3rd party charger works fine, just not rapidly. Oddly....only my wife's MacBook Air charger will make the phone display, "charging rapidly"

My issues has devolved into a general USB problem. My phone is no longer recognized when connected to my W10 laptop, and it powers off when connected w/the cable. Gonna try my Mac, but I'm preparing to factory reset.

Have you figured out if it's the cable or the brick?
You should be able to get a replacement from Google.

Did you check the USB port for lint?

Which phone are you guys using? There was an article I recently read that mentioned issues with rapid charging on Pixel XLs after updating to Pie, both the commercial release and beta forms. To the best of my knowledge my Pixel 2 still charges rapidly both with the standard brick and 3rd party charger/cable.

Edit: here it is:

Your's still working makes sense since it seems to affect only the first generation Pixel. I'm sure they will come up with fix in one of the upcoming updates.

I think it is Android Pie that is causing the problem, or so from what I read when I google'd the problem this morning.

I have a 2 XL that is just less than 2 months old and I started having charging issues last night, as well is problems getting the headphone dongle to work. Came in to work this morning and my boss who has the XL said he started having charging issues last night as well. Both of us tried two different chargers (the ones that came with our phones and a third party charger)

The charger works on another Android device. USB on my phone is hosed. I filed a claim w/Google.

Yeah that's what I figured, when u said there was alot of debris in the port something got shorted. It happened to my 5x and I opened it up and replaced the charging port still have that phone works great

That's interesting , I've heard that some are having issues , for me its been the opposite it charges a little faster then when I first had the phone go figure lol

Another article with an official statement from Google, apparently working on a fix:
I'm sorry, but that article specifically references the original Pixel/Pixel XL, and also states that the problem does not occur with the original PD charger.
The complaints in this thread are about the Pixel 2/2 XL, and include references to the original PD charger.

Oh, I didn't realize that there was an issue with the Pixel 2 / 2 XL? I thought the above poster said they had the original model?

Let us know how you make out. Google's service is usually pretty good.
Got this email today, fwiw:

Thank you for contacting Google.

My name is Elmo and I am a member of the Advanced Support Technician team. Since we're seeing several issues with the phone, including being stuck in a bootloop, and rebooting at random (even while in the bootloader), it looks like our next steps would be to look into warranty options. So I can look into your warranty options, please confirm the following information:

[bunch of info about the phone and original order]

Thanks,

OK, just got an email to request my replacement phone, which I've done. Should get it in 3 or 4 days. It's a refurb, so I hope it's in at least the same condition as my original phone, which is excellent.

Of course, I would have preferred this process was initiated within 48 hours of my claim. At least they're shipping the replacement w/o waiting for me to return the broken device.

My origional power brick stopped working g a few months after purchase. I use the charger that came with my Lumia 950 and it charges rapidly.
