Factory Reset after Nougat Update

So I love the update to Nougat, but I've noticed that lately my phone draaaaaaaags along on many apps. Just hitting the home button triggers a delay before the phone quits an app sometimes.

Is doing a factory reset after updating to 7.0 necessary and/or advisable? Or is it redundant?

For best results, reset and setup from scratch (not restoring from a backup). It will definitely make a difference.

When you say not restoring from backup, does that include restoring contacts/apps/messages from Samsung's cloud? Just making sure. If so, you would recommend downloading apps one at a time?

I have contacts synced to Google. So I didn't use Samsung backup. I did redownload all apps from Play store.
