factory reset and reinstall the system, same thing?

i just sent it for 4th repair, they told me that they just reinstalled the system again.

so i am just wondering, if i do a factory reset at home, and the repair center installed the system again, are they the same thing?

Not quite. Reflashing the system typically wipes all data, where as a factory reset preserves it, but just brings the device to like it was out of the box.
