factory reset question

when you do a factory reset ,does it take you back to the verizon froyo update? I was on the comm rom 1.2 before the reset. Not quite sure where I am at now but I think it is back to verizon update. I did this to try and help the battery situation. If I need to flash again , is there something better than commrom 1.2?

Are you referring to the wipe data/facory reset in CWM or the factory data reset in menu=>settings=>privacy? First one does not set you back to stock, just erases all personal data (contacts, 3rd party apps, texts, etc.) Second one resets you to factory condition, but make sure you do not do this from a custom ROM. Comm ROM 1.3 is out and fixes a few things.

Yep. Let me find the solution.

Looks like the solution is to flash whatever custom ROM you want to use. If you want the latest Comm ROM, that means download v 1.3 to your sd card and flash it through CWM. Check to make sure lag fix is enabled under the voodoo menu before you reboot your phone. Also make sure you have at least the DL09 modem (DL09, EB01, EC01, or ED01 at the end of baseband version in menu=>settings=>about phone)

It's been a while since I messed with things but it seems like I am back at the verizon update. Can I flash 1.2 from my restore and then add 1.3 or should I just flash the whole thing?

No need to flash 1.2 before flashing 1.3. 1.3 includes everything included in the previous versions and patches.

Definitely do wipes before flashing the 1.3 ROM. Adrynalyne also recommends a data wipe after flashing the ROM to enable the GPS fixes.

actually most people are doing all three - data, cache, and dalvik cache before flashing the ROM, then to get the GPS enhancement, wiping data after flashing the ROM.
