Factory reset while in airplane mode and locked out?

[AC Question]

So, I had forgot my pattern earlier. Put my phone in airplane mode and then powered off before heading into the US. Turned back on and my fingerprints wont unlock it.

I also cannot turn it off while I am on the screen that allows me to input my pattern.

I don't mind losing my stuff, it is backed up. Is there a way to power off while the phone is locked or just waiting for me to enter my pattern? Every time I try a new pattern I have to wait 1 hour.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? You can force a shutdown on most Android devices by pressing and holding Power for about 15 seconds. On Samsung devices, it's Power and Vol Down together for 15 seconds.
