Factory Restored rooted phone, can't get out of recovery

I had rooted my phone and it was working fine, but the past few days it's been freezing a lot, so I removed root. After I had done that, my phone came back on like it used to and everything was fine. So then I factory restored it. I know you're not supposed to do that when it's rooted, but I thought I had removed root but I don't know. After that, it won't do anything but go to CMW-based Recover mode. I tried restoring it in hope that it would go back, but it didn't work. It won't do anything but go to Recovery mode. How do I get my phone back to normal?

You will need to flash the xonia recovery or cot recovery then select fix bootloop

Nevermind, I figured it out. Thank you.

It worked, the Virgin Mobile logo popped up when it came back on, but now it's just stuck at that screen. Perhaps it needs time and I'm being impatient. Should it do that?

Did you install one of those recoveries mentioned by adamhos? If so they have an option to "fix bootloop." Once you do that you can restore a backup or install a new rom.

Yes, and I did that and all it would do is get stuck on the Virgin Mobile logo when it turns on.

Did you restore your backup
You may need to install a new rom if your backup didn't stick

Personally I like gingersnap
However there are a ton of great roms here and they are easy to flash so I recommend trying a few

Well, I've tried other roms. The outcome is the same.. but now instead of Virgin Mobile coming up and freezing, it turns on shows the LG logo, and then freezes.

I sure did. I'm not even sure if my phone is rooted anymore. I don't know. Nothing is working though. I don't know what to do.

Which recovery are you using?
Which roms have you tried
Try wiping everything again
Boot
Cache
System
Dalvik cache
Then flash your new rom
Flash gapps
Then try the boot loop fix again
Reboot 2x

If it freezes again pull the battery and reboot

And I'm using COT Recovery. I don't remember what Roms I did, I deleted them as soon as I saw that they weren't helping the issue.

Very strange. Can you type out in detail how you are flashing the new rom? Be as detailed as possible, down to which options you are selecting in the recovery.
