Fair price?

Because as people have already mentioned, he probably did buy one get one free. So if he returns it, what's going to get refunded?

From where? Fi requires it to be on an account for 30 days before you get the billing credit.. I am pretty sure VZW is not giving you a free phone without it also being active on the account..

Edit to add: VZW free Pixel 3 policy

Buy one Google Pixel 3, get one on us.

1. Buy one Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL with monthly device payments, get one Pixel 3 64GB free (or get $799.99 off any other Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL model).

2. You’ll need to add a new line to one of these phones.

3. Then you’ll see a credit of $33.33/mo over 24 months on your bill.

So $33.33 x 24 = $799.92 plus eBay and PayPal fees... It needs to be sold for $905 to break even..

How exactly is this a money maker? Return it and call it a day...

The day I called to ask about ordering it from Verizon, I talked to a CSR and she was pushing me hard to get the BOGO deal. She was telling me I could activate both phones on existing lines (false) and that the 2nd phone only had to be activated for a few seconds and then I could sell it (false) while continuing to receive the monthly bill credits (false). She said in effect I could get both phones for free that way (false, False, FALSE!).

Isn't the 3XL pretty much the see size as the original Pixel XL? So she would get nearly the same thing but wouldn't get the benefits of 2 years of advancement. I could undt if you got her a regular Pixel 3 but she wanted the larger model, but I don't see any reason to want the older phone, other than having the headphone jack. But if she's worried about headphones, reviews are saying the included Pixel Buds are excellent and well balanced.
The pixel buds are excellent. I bought a pair and got them already.

I think a lot of people are under a false impression that VZW is giving them a free phone that they can then do as they please with and VZW will say cool, you played us....

The only carrier I've seen offer insane deals is Sprint for other phones. Sometimes you can score a brand new and hot phone for like $2 a month as long as you keep the service active..

As many 17 year old girls often do my daughter has changed her mind, and has decided to keep the Pixel 3.

Thanks to everyone that replied for thier input.

You underestimate the impact paying no taxes can have (for those that live in places where there is sales tax).

If someone tried to sell me a sealed 3XL at face value, I'd do it. I'd avoid paying the $30 upgrade fee and the $110 in taxes and that stupid $30 notch fee that Verizon is charging.

30 dollar notch fee?

What am I missing?

Verizon is charging $30 more than MSRP for the 3XL. Leading the bump in price to jokingly be referred to as a "notch fee."

Wow....that sucks...If they've done that before I never noticed. For those that can buy it outright or finance through Google it makes no sense.

AT&T does that with other phones as well... When my son bought the S9+ it was like $80 more on AT&T than Samsung was selling the unlocked version for... He purchased it from Samsung instead of AT&T...

I didn't even notice until a couple days ago when I looked at my receipt. Guess I should have paid more attention 🙈

At least you see the price you're getting clearly. Just noticed this in Google Store Financing fine print: "For new accounts: Phone purchases (any transaction that includes a phone) APR is 0.00%. All other (regular) purchases APR is 29.99%. Minimum interest charge is $2.00."

So if I'm reading that right, if you pay it off over 24 months you're still paying $48 in interest charges, despite there being 0% APR...

I don't think the minimum applies to 0 percent but thats just a guess. If you don't know for sure and you really want to know Google might be able to confirm. I buy outright these days.

If I'm reading that right, buying a phone won't cost you interest or the minimum fee, but something like the Google Home Hub or a Google WiFi would if you financed it. But, it is a good lesson to ALWAYS read the fine print when entering a contract.

That's typical of carriers. Just look for any tech blog articles that talk about where to get phone A and what each carrier is charging. Typically, Verizon charges the highest of the carriers. For the LG V40, the price range was $80 (T-Mobile was the lowest and Verizon was $80 higher). Maybe they should call it the Verizon Tax.

That's exactly right.. You are not charged the $2 minimum for 0% financing. The $2 minimum comes into play if you finance something like a Google Home where the interest might only be $1. In that instance they will charge you the $2....

Interesting because the last three LG phones I bought from them were the cheapest or comparable and had great promo deals. The last one was the V30 but I didn't keep it. The V20 was a lot cheaper on Verizon than AT&T.

Interesting. Maybe the pendulum swings back and forth, but everytime I've seen those articles, Verizon is either the most expensive or tied for it.
