So I just went from aosp 0523 to 0601 and love how everything works now! (that I need)

My question is, are the latest GAPPS really the 0325 build? There is a universal gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip build for CM7. What would be the pros/cons of flashing those?

Thanks! Love the info on this forum.

the gapps is just the market, which auto updates itself when you open it, and from there you download the newest version of everything else.

sooo your not missing much. thats why it doesnt get updated often. when it does its probably for compatibility with some changes in the rom itself.

I agree, let the market update them. I tried the 6/13 gapps, and had lots of FCs and couldn't update anything in the market.

the 6/13 GAPPS works for me, I've been using it since it came out... added a car mode among other things...

whats the car mode do?

turns your home screen into 6 giant easy to see buttons that have easy access to phone, sms, maps, navigation, music, and such.

its designed to make it easy to reach important phone features while the phone is in a dashboard holder in your car

I'm wanting to flash a ROM but it's telling me to download the gapps for my phone, but when I go to it, it shows 4 lists of gapps for this ROM, and they say MDPI, TINY, and TEGRA and HDPI,. but i'm not sure which to download.

How do I figure out which to use??

Please quit resurrecting dead threads. If you are having trouble installing a ROM, post a comment under that ROM's thread. If a thread does not exist or cannot be found, add a new thread with your issue.

Please stop trolling the threads to complain about resurrected threads. This is like the 3rd time.

If you are planning to flash a CM7 ROM (IHO is CM7.1), there is only one gapps for all of the resolutions. And there is no point of flashing another ROM than IHO :) So what you need to is available here. Just donwload the gapps that is common for all resolution on the row for CM7. Also, read this wiki for the instructions for installing IHO. When you have other questions, search the forum and post your questions in the IHO thread if you can't find the answer. Good luck.

Why do you seem to think I am trolling looking for dead threads?

The first time I said anything about a dead thread was within a post by mmarz entitled "Measure Your Battery Life and Brag About It!" In which I clearly asked that, since the thread died, is anyone still collecting the information. A legitimate question in response to someone who posted new information.

The second time I ask another question in regards to why a post was made in a thread (Zefie's CM7 for the Optimus V (Current: 03012011) by icemank121), when the post they were responding about was clearly very old, and the thread is misleading noobs to install an, unsupported ROM.

The third time (which just so happens to be this thread) I requested that the individual, which also happened to be the poster from my second time, quit resurrecting threads and ask their questions in the appropriate threads where they could get the right answers.

Now if you would please stop following me around. You're comment toward me was just as useless as you were trying to make mine appear.

When Corrie Streaker makes you a mod then come back and correct people.

Read the forum rules there is a clause stating resurrecting old threads. Its frowned upon and pretty much a no no on any forum community. Try doing it on sa.com or 4chan and see what happens.

ShortRound is correct the poster should be posting in the thread asking for help there. Then if said poster is posting for help in a out-dated rom we can direct them to the right area.

I am not saying he is wrong. I am saying it is not his job to go around pointing it out. We have moderators for that and hes not one. Not that I am either but there is no reason to compound a nerco thread by stating the fact in each thread right after it gets rezzed and causing the thread to become a soap box for this crap right here.

I agree with you none of us are mods. But these thread get brought back and the mods ignore them when reported. Like the Zefie thread. How long has that rom been dead? In the past month its been brought back to life how many times? We as a community have the ability to moderate these types of things. If we just ignore them we in a sense are allowing these things to continue. If the community stands up and says look this needs to be taken care of eventually the mod's will have to take notice.

I can see your point I just hope we as a community can be nice about it and have tact. Maybe even offer help after we thump them in the head with the rules.

back on topic.....

i'm thinking about flashing an older version of GAPPS. i seem to have problems with the 6/13 version on multiple ROMs. sometimes, apps won't update and other days they will.

You know this is just a base to get the apps installed right? Once you connect to the market you will automagically update or be prompted to update. If you dont any problems you get will be from incompatible apps.

Jerryscript made it sound like there's more to it and that he gets a lot of force closes with the 6/13 version

Completely off the original topic, and the resurection topic.

The OP definately dated themselves with that headline. How many people here know what they are refering to! OP is clearly 40 plus!
