falling out of love with the HTC one :(

Mm............Looks like your profile name should be changed. If you think Samsung is only popular because of marketing, you have never studied marketing. Or business. And if you have studied those things and you STILL have convinced yourself that Samsung is successful based only on their marketing, then you are more in denial than most i've ever encountered.

People say the same thing about Apple so it must apply to them too? LOL. Not because they make a good product but because the advertise good. That's the ONLY reason they sell a lot. I mean the things people say to justify stuff is ridiculous at times. Sure marketing is a factor, but never the sole factor. Powerful marketing backing a good product is what sells. But people won't admit it's good. So marketing budget is their best argument.

Now we're basing what's cool on how Best Buy is set up?

Yes, the retailer that's so close to going out of business it isn't funny. Samsung struck a deal with Best Buy. Microsoft did too recently so I guess people will now start craving Lumia or Surfaces.

Ranting....

When I first bought the phone I was crazy about it.
Everything about it seemed perfect.
Im a fan of sence 5 and love the interface. But recently I've been wanting to have a Samsung product.
Is it all the marketing that's brain washing me ?

I feel like I should trade my ONE for a note 2 and get money on top.
The note 2 is still one of the best phones out right now.

Or even trade it in for an s3 or s4 .
Now I know Samsungs touchwiz isn't the greatest and there's rumors of a lot of lag .. but I don't know

The one is an amazing device no doubt about it but Im getting bored of it... For lack of better words.

Boom sound is nice but I usually only listen to music through headphones or aux cable.

Ultrapixels are ... Meh

Blinkfeed is useful but I guess that's what flipboard is for....

I'm also tired of HTCs lack of effort .
When buying the phone in Canada
No cellphone company had a single idea of what the phone was or even when it would come out. There was no advertising anywhere . Not to mention countless times they changed the release date.

Buying a cell phone case was the worst process. No one carried anything for the ONE weeks later, except the fat hideous otter box.

Walking into bestbuy I feel like a loser, Samsung and apple completely dominate the phone section. Me being the only one with a ONE while everyone else thinks there top notch with an iPhone or Galaxy.

Camera pictures look nice on small screen and dissapointing on computer

4.2 is waiting until Christmas to be released ( sarcasm )

HTC logo is completely unnecessary

Please understand that I am not bashing the HTC one.
Im still a fan of there work.
I think I just needed to vent and hear others perspective on this .
Thanks for your time

Update:
I don't want an iPhone it's so over played. My intentions are not to "fit in" or to "go with the crowd" Where I live hardly anybody has a Samsung, but it's well advertised.
Everyone I know has an iPhone . & I definitely want to stick with Android.

Another example why Software n features are greater than looks!

I've had both and the lag is definitely there. Their marketing scheme is definitely getting to you and they do a great job at that. But thank god for their great marketing, and due to that reason, i was able to sell my s4 for a pretty good profit. Get and you'll know what i mean.

In my USA ATT store where I purchased my One, there were the exact same amount of cases available for both One and S4.

I would feel like a loser at Best Buy with their Samsung section, but all of Samsung devices are extremely unappealing to the eye (not that they are bad products, but they DO look cheap and a bit dated with the plastic, etc)

Don't blame HTC for their lack of marketing budget. Money doesn't make itself.

HTC logo is completely unnecessary
And the Samsung logo isn't?

Pure hogwash. You're using Android because it works for you not because you're making a statement. People are saying on one hand you shouldn't care what people think but on the other hand saying stuff like this. That's a total contradiction. Making a statement means showing other people something and if you don't care, what's the point in making a statement? Because we aren't. You mean to tell me that only people that buy iPhones are fanatics who blindly follow them? People all over this site drool over everything Google does and Samsung and are just the same. Same with those on CB for blackberry and those on iMore for iPhone. The smartphone user bases are all the same in their mentality but just have different choices. Made up of fanboys who claim to not be fanboys while they do nothing profess their love for something different and bash other products because they don't like or agree with that company's philosophy. The hypocrisy is crazy.

Calm down my friend. You kinda read that and went ape shiz in your response. Let's go back over it together and see if we can't find some common ground here. When I first bought my very first smartphone, I wanted the iPhone 4. But only because that's all I ever heard about. I went to Verizon planning to get it, and I heard that the new iPhone was being announced soon (this was late September of 2011 if I remember correctly). So I decided to get the highest rated Android device they had, and figured i'd return it for the new iPhone when it was released. Well that happened to be the Bionic. I started using it, and I LOVED it. I still wanted to get the iPhone though, because everything I loved at the time about the Bionic I assumed the iPhone would also do. A small change began to occur though. I realized that my inlaws started taking an interest in my device because they ALL had the iPhone. I'm not kidding. My mother and father in law, 3 sisters in law, and 3 brothers in law. They ALL had either the 3gs or the 4. It was so fun to show them the different things I could do with my Bionic. Not because I thought I was better, but because they had never even considered looking outside of Apple's ecosystem.

If that experience of mine is "hogwash" in your eyes, that's not my problem because that's how it happened for me. Using Android became fun for multiple reasons. Obviously if it didn't meet my needs, I would have dropped it. But it did, AND I got the added bonus of seeing my inlaws eyes light up when I showed them my device. I then got the Razr Maxx, shortly followed by the S3. Now my whole inlaw family has the S3 except my father in law and two brothers in law. That bugs me, because now everyone has the same device, which ended up being something I didn't like about iPhone.

So relax in calling out hypocrisy before you know the intent behind what i'm saying. iPhones are great, and they really catch my interest for various reasons. The only drawback for me, is the lack of customization within the OS. That alone is enough to keep me away. I also have a ton of interest in the new Windows Phones, and I would love to play with a BlackBerry Z10 and see how that feels. I am not a fanboy. I do love Android and so far that's all i've owned, but I would love to have one of each phone and just cycle through for the different pro's and con's that each possess. I'm pretty annoyed that you freaked out the way you did without first trying to understand. Next time, take a breather and don't get so worked up over something that a stranger is saying online. There's a REALLY good chance you might be misunderstanding. If i've said something that seems whack to you, please feel free to ask for clarification. I imagine you're capable of doing so in a polite manner.

I think you're under the impression that you should just fly off the handle as you tear through a thread and just over analyze everything. Marketing AND a good product is key to success. Like you said, that goes for Apple, Samsung, HTC, and everyone else.

That is the whole point of marketing sometimes. Either to make you feel that you need something or shame you into it. I mean look at medical alert systems. They tell you that you are alone and you are going to die.

You said you don't want to "fit in" or anything but you stated you felt like a loser going into best buy with the one when everyone else had iPhones and sumsungs... Really who gives a **** what other people have. I love this phone and I could careless if I was the only one that had it. It's cool seeing other people feel that way about their phones as well. But when people are buying iPhones because they don't feel cool or because everyone else has them is really sad

I didn't want to be like everyone else who had iPhones, so I bought a Motorola. Two actually, and I RELISHED the fact that not everyone had the same phone as me. I now have the S3 and I absolutely LOVE it. Except I can't stand that everyone else has it too. If I were you, i'd try very much to love your One and be grateful that you are enjoying a hidden gem in the phone market. Walk into BestBuy with your head held high for thinking outside the box and getting something that required some knowledge beyond just seeing ads on tv. I love Samsung products because i've researched them and Touchwiz is something I enjoy. But I also get irritated that it's becoming a manufacturer that people are going with just because they hear their friends talk about one feature.

Using Android is a huge statement that we're okay with using our brains to find the best on the market instead of what California CEO's tell us to think. The same can be said of using an HTC One instead of just having to "fit in." However, if it's not meeting your needs, certainly look elsewhere for what fits you best. But if you're just worried about fitting in, even with an S4 you'll feel left out when the Note 3 comes out.

I feel you dude. Me and my cousin where the only ones in the family with android phones and we were always messed with because everyone else had iphones. Now everyone has an s4 or s3 so I got my self the One and I'm the only One who has it. I'm glad nobody else does.

I just fell harder for my HTC One. My phone has IR and I didn't even know it. No more looking for my remote. Now I gotta find a Harmony type app.

I know, isn't it great? I love this feature. Didn't really think I would ever use it but wow, I use it every single day over my standard remotes. BTW, what harmony features are you looking for?

Have you seen these?

I completely understand how you feel. I bought a HTC Sensation and was underwhelmed quite quickly. Got myself a GNex a month later and used that until I recently got a Galaxy S4. I went to the store to get the HTC One, but in the end all the niggles (camera, sharp edges, built quality issues, blink feed, fixed battery, awkward soft buttons) didn't overcome the sound quality advantage. I also didn't like the look of the HTC One that much when I saw it in the store. Aluminium looks dated. like going back to the early days of stereo's and PDA's. The Galaxy S4 looked a lot beter to me in person. The front just looks nice actually. More businesslike like the Note 2 rather than the S3.

Not to keen on the look of the back of the Galaxy S4 though, but I simply replaced the backplate for a matte ruberized one. Got rid of most of Touchwiz by installing Nova launcher (and perhaps in the future a stock Android ROM).
