I regret to say I am in VZ at the moment switching to a thunderbolt. I will still be an active membr of the AC community... and I really appreciate how amazingly helpful everyone (especially Paul and Rag) have been. I will still be on the epic forum now and then to remenisce about the old days. I love this phone but sprint sucks and its time to move on. Thanks for all the help.

Sorry to see you go especially defecting to Verizon. Hope you get what your seeking from them but from what many friends I've had that went to Verizon eventually ended up back at Sprint.

It wasn't a planned event. I was just walking through the VZ store looking at all their new phones. Got pissed thinking about the ****ty service i've had with sprint, and just went for it. I already miss my Epic. I'm starting all over now with a device that I dont know at ALL. I finally learned the tricks of making the Epic do what I want and then I switch. I hope the thunderbolt (and the company behind it) will treat me better as a customer than Sprint has. You guys have been amazing. Thank you for everything... i'll still be around on the forums; like i said- it'll be hard to just walk away from the phone (and community) that i love.

Good luck with your new carrier and phone.

Sprint has its problems but is improving....but that is for a new website/forum all together!

@traumahawk I understand your concern about Sprint service. Good bye. I have problems with Sprint but I would not pay more for the perfect service. I would like to flash my Epic to Cricket and save even more money. Any ways everyone is going to miss you. :(. Do not forget to stop by every now and then.

I'm right there with you. As soon as something better comes out on vzw, im there. I recently moved and get no service at my apartment or at my place of employment. I got an airave for home, but I still can't text at work, which is a HUGE problem. Since I roam in both places, I know vzw has service. What makes matters worse is that I'm in both a WiMax and LTE area (south florida). The WiMax just cannot penetrate hurricane proof buildings, and its a shame. All my co-workers have ATT (iPhone, literally every one of them), and they recently have had reception issues at work, no data or cell service. The one co-worker with T-Mo gets no service (guess the only GSM band making it through is ATT's proprietary band). I haven't found anyone else at work with VZW, but I know there is consistant service (I roam and the bars don't move like they do on Sprint, kinda shocking, really). I get a decent discount with Sprint (20%), ATT (25% off plan, 22% off data) and VZW (25% off plan, 22% off data) so it doesn't really matter to me cost wise as I'm flying solo. I've had more problems with Sprint's customer service than I ever did with Cingulair (way back) and VZW (before the Palm Pre came out).

I can definitely understand jumping ship to VZW for better service, but I'm confused on the choice to grab a Tbolt. Epic's battery life wasn't bad enough for you? :p

The battery on the epic isn't that bad with a custom kernel... and neither will the t-bolts once people tinker with it a bit more. They should have used a much bigger battery. kinda ridiculous that my hero has a bigger battery.

Try roam control it has been working great for me for about 6 months.

If anyone is leaving Sprint for better customer service to go to Verizon they will be sorely disappointed I hate to say. Yes, they do have a wider footprint, but for most of us, that comes at a high cost unless you have an insane corporate discount like Andrew. At least at Sprint, every time I have an issue, they either fix it or issue me some sort of credit or perk. I've been with Verizon and they basically dare you to leave. I'm not a Sprint fanboy, and have been with Sprint, AT&T and Verizon over the past 10 years between personal and work devices. I am still with Sprint for a reason. Incidentally, I had such a bad experience with Verizon Cust service a few years back, I dumped them for cable, home phone and cell all on the same day and gave them the finger. Just my two cents...

I can believe that. My parents switched from Sprint to Verizon after a fall out over billing with Sprint, now after only 6-8 months with Verizon they can't wait until their contract is up so they can come back to Sprint.

Sprint may not at times be the best on the block but bang for the buck and reasonable service repair/replacement and phone packages that actually make sense you can't go wrong. I remember when I was going to go to Verizon back during my BB days, heck it would of been double the price to get the same on Verizon BB plans verses what Sprint offered for the same or better at almost half the price.

I agree, every provider has their quarks. Sprint at times more so than others. The value of the service is great and customer service is getting better. Where as the big two are more concerned about higher profits than service. But at the same time I do understand if you get burnt a few times that you'd go elsewhere. Traumahawk, hope Verizon works better for you and enjoy your new phone.

This is why we came to sprint after being with verizon for 6yrs. It was going to be over $170 for me to get a smart phone and the wife to have a standard phone. Talked to sprint and we both got epics for $150ish

Without the discount I get, it would be insane. I'm thinking about bringing my parents with me to verizon instead of just being me. Right now, the 3 of us pay 155/month with our discount through their employer. Without my employer's discount, its 230/month for the equivalent on verizon (not really that equal as you have to pay for stupid things that sprint gives you free like its sprint tv, sprint navigator and visual voicemail, which would add $23 per phone extra, fortunately none of us use these services except vvm, which there are free replacements). With my discount its 160 before tax, so I figure about 30 bucks more a month. If that means I can use my phone at home and at work, then so be it. I haven't heard much about the fascinate froyo release, but I would be surprised if the video camera didn't work like doesn't on our phones with EC05.

But has anyone checked their coverage maps lately with Sprint They lost a whole slew of roaming agreements as of 3.1.11 and everyone was notified of this very inconspicuously some people in some states no longer have any coverage (AZ, MT, IL, etc.)and some places like here in LA once your out in the desert no data or voice unless they permit you to roam but as of right now Sprint is having to pay un godly prices for roaming. These are towers Alltel owned and Sprint had contracts with, that held their prices low until 3.1.11. Very interesting, search it on the Sprint Forums you will find out all about it. So I may be there with you if something doesnt happen soon. I would hate to lose my Gold Premier status.
