Fascinate or Bolt?

Assuming the price it $250, what would YOU do in my situation?

Why would anyone pay $200+ for a used Fascinate when you can get a new one from Amazon for $40? Are there that many uneducated consumers on eBay?

Well not off contract you can't. I paid $175 for a one month old Droid 1 off contract last month for my wife off of CraigsList and it was one of the cheaper prices.

Off topic: Did you go to the Cuse? I went there and I saw your avatar so I am just asking.

That's true, I was looking at the contract price. Good point.

I didn't go there, but I grew up about a half hour away from the SU campus. No pro teams in that part of NY, so Syracuse sports are a religion. I'll forever be a 'Cuse fan.

Pretty overwhelming feedback, holy crap! These are three posts I read that I wanted to point out though, because 2 follow my potential thought process, and one needs clarifying. Lol

If you pick up the fascinate for 200, you could always flip it on ebay in two months for about the same, then use your upgrade on whatever.

This popped into my head. My concern with it is whether or not 100 other people will be trying to do the same thing. It's not really a predictable market, so it needs more thought than this. Although I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just a bit more short-sighted than I would see it.

fascinate $39.99 amazonwireless individual account
droid x $19.99

Although you're probably using the right info, I'm not looking to get them on contract at this time. For me, the point of getting the Fascinate would be because I could save my upgrade. Then I'll get something back for it when I finally would decide to upgrade to whatever phone it may be down the road.

depending on how cheap u can get the fascinate for... if you can wait it out, i'd wait it out, i doubt the TB will be the perfect LTE phone, wait for some other choices release, i.e. the droid bionic, etc etc... and then make a decision

For me, the "perfect LTE phone" isn't the issue. I have no complaints about the Thunderbolt as a whole; the specs aren't bad. But I could be more future-proof if I waited. In getting a dual core phone, I'll be prepared for next year when it's more the standard. Although I don't REALLY care about the processor, it's worth taking into consideration at this point since we're no more than 6 months from it being the absolute standard thing (and some would argue even less time, but 6 is conservative).

I suppose my decision is to wait until the last minute. I'm willing to go phoneless for no more than 4-5 days, which means I have until somewhere around the 14th for the Thunderbolt to be announced and/or on the shelf; 21st being my absolute limit if the phone is officially announced, with the price being $250 (no joke this time, >.>). If there's no announcement, or if the TBolt is $300, I'm taking the Fascinate on March 17th at the latest.

Ok, here's my burning question. After being on the fence on what to do, and FINALLY deciding to wait out the Thunderbolt, the price is potentially going to be raised to where I can't reach it.

So if you were in this situation, what would you do, and why?

Well for me I am getting the thunderbolt on 1 year because in years time I will upgrade. This works better for me. So my question is are you planing to upgrade in year? Also which do you like better samsung or htc?

If you like htc better and don't want to upgrade go with the TBOLT

If you like samsung better and want to upgrade go with the fascinate.( Cross your fingers if they don't get rid of the rumor unlimited 4G when you want to upgrade)

P.S
HTC and Samsung are very different UIs

Wow, really? You have a PM...

Updated: I'll be darned...Droid X on the way. It was that or early upgrade. Decided to hold off on the upgrade as it comes up in July and there's too much going on mid-end of year to use it right now.

Sorry, I didn't notice the PMs. Glad you got it though!!! I'm a real son of a biscuit when it comes to getting what I want. The key is to stick to your guns, and have your info together before you call, and remain calm and polite to the rep.
