The key point here is that Bing is so bad, Microsoft has to "establish partnerships" (aka "pay lots of money") to make deals with carriers and manufacturers that FORCE users to use Bing as NOT THE DEFAULT, but the ONLY search engine that is available in automatic/quick search features of phones.
This will be a nice reopening of a big sore for Verizon Blackberry users, who, like me, woke up one day to find that Bing was the only selectable provider in the BB browser quick search box, whereas before, Google, Wikipedia, and other mainstream search providers could be selected.
Go ahead and "establish a new partnership" that makes Bing the default search engine. I get that. But when the "partnership" requires that the carrier/manufacturer REACH OUT AND CHANGE THE AVAILABLE SEARCH TOOLS on my phone, deleting all but Bing, (which is what happened to Verizon BB users) that crosses the line.
I don't "hate Bing". I just don't choose to use it.
I do hate it when I'm forced to because my carrier or manufacturer makes a deal with Microsoft that restricts or eliminates my ability to use the search tool that I choose to use.
