I purchased a second hand Samsung s10 plus, the seller provided a non genuine cable and no plug.

I'm using a Huawei super charge plug and huawei 5A cable but I have never seen it fast charging. I have changed the settings to fast charging option. It still takes ages to charge.

Do I need to use a different plug and cable or is wireless charging a better option for me?

Battery life is awful compared to my 6 year old huawei, is this normal?

Hope someone can help. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! If the phone you are using is second hand and a few years old, the battery life may not be as proficient. I'm not as well versed on chargers and wattages as other users here, but perhaps a Belkin charger or a Samsung charging brick will yield you more success.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Hi guys, I know this thread is quite old already, but maybe this info could help others.
The fast charging function on the Galaxy S10+ needs to be switched on first.
However, for fast charging to be utilised, there's a few conditions that first need to be met.
- The charger must be 'Samsung Fast Charge' compatible, fast chargers from other brands may not operate in the fast charge mode if the fast charging protocol is not compatible.
- The charging cable used has to be fast charge compliant as well. The cheapie cables from Pound Land and the like don't allow higher voltages and currents to flow through.
- The USB-C connector on your cable and the USB-C port on your device need to be functioning optimally as well. There are instances where the phone charges at a regular rate but unable to get into fast charging because either the cable connector or phone port are damaged or dirty, etc.

I hope this helps as I had to go through most of these before I got the fast charge to function on my 4 year old S10+.

Cheers,
Yusuf

try to see your phone with another charger, without buying it just let it charge for 10 min and compare the time with 10 min with the one you have, and see the difference
