Fast charging

Just wondering if the Note 8 charges fast when plugged directly into the phone? On my old Note 4, it says it's fast charging when using my car charger or home charger. However, when using the home or car charger, it doesn't say that. Only when using the wireless it says fast charging. Do I have to buy a new charger ( car and home)?

My phone does charge fast with a fast charger plugged into the phone. I had to buy a fast charger for my car to get the phone charging fast. I happened to make a mistake and purchase a quick charger, not a fat charger. The quick charger was a mistake since it didn't do much for charging fast.

Make sure it's set to fast cable charging in the advanced battery settings...

I noticed that the Note 8 doesnt show fast charging, just charging with the Anker Quick chargers, which showed fast charging with the Note 5... yet... the charge times are fast and the same. When I use the new Sammy charger and the one from the Note 5... it shows fast charging on the Note 8.

Make sure it's set to fast cable charging in the advanced battery settings...

Just looked and it is set.

Maybe for ... peace of mind... but the charging times are the same. Could be the Note 8 doesnt recognize the Quick Charge aspect of the QC charger... yet the charge times as mentioned are the same.

OK. I heard you need a 3.0 or something like that. I'll probably pick up some new ones.

Two years old, got them when I bought my Note 5. For now, I'll use the two Sammy chargers as primary, and Anker as backups.

Yea, the two year old model may not support the Note 8's quick charge. This is the one that I'm using and that works for the Note 8. I even use it to charge my MacBook since it has Power Delivery support.

I tested 3 wall chargers and 2 car charger (all are Quick Charge 2.0) and they all show "Fast charging" for me on my Note 8. I'm using chargers from Aukey and Anker.

Settings, device maintenance, click on the battery icon, then at top left where the dots are, click that and it's there for advanced settings.

So, I found out that the wires make a difference. I used an old adaptive fast charger from my note 4 and used a different cord and it didn't fast charge. I then put the new cord on the old charger and it worked, fast charging.
