I have been using Appbrain since the first week I got my phone. I barely use the market and love appbrain. But I just found out about the fast web installer.

What exactly is it? Do you like it? Is there a risk to it?

A. It allows you to upload and install apps/wallpapers on your device directly from the AppBrain site.

" * Send links and text directly to your phone from Appbrain.com
* Browse the wallpaper gallery and set it as background for your phone
* Uninstall apps directly from the web "

B. Yes

C. Nope....enjoy. AppBrain just keeps getting better

ok, so I installed it, turned it on.
Went on line to appbrain, selected an app and said to install.
Now what? Nothing seems to be happening on my phone.

it seems that apps that do not need manual intervention gets installed automatically - i've found that sometimes it doesn't work, or you may need to re-authorize the app

Did you open the app and authorize installs? It won't work till you do that, and you need to do it every time the main AppBrain app updates too

Fast web installer worked on my Evo when it was still running 2.1. With the Froyo update, it stopped working.

Works fine on my Dinc running froyo used it couple times today.

Sent from my HTC Incredible

Works fine for me with DInc and 2.2. However, the authorization expires after an unknown amount of time. Nearly each time I try to install an app from the web, I have to first fire up the phone, launch Fast Web Installer, then go back to the web and press install. Kind of defeats the purpose. I still like it and prefer it over the market.

We're sorry to report that Google has disabled the Fast Web Installer functionality in the latest update of the Android Market. Google is pushing out this update to all devices now, so we don't know how long the fast web installer will still be relevant. (You can uninstall updates of the market to make fast web installer work again, but it seems the update keeps reinstalling automatically).
