Fast wireless charging doesn't work on turn off cellphone?

Dear all,

I bought a samsung fast wireless charging pad (pn-920) recently. I tried charging my s8 plus for 4 hours(I turn off the phone and plugged a qc 2.0 charger for pad). The battery just went up from 10% to 87% (which is much slower than claimed speed). Do I need to turn on the phone during charging to achieve fast charge? Please advise. Thanks.

I think so. Fast charge has a software trigger. The charger and the phone will identify each other as fast charge compatible. Since the phone is off, then they can't do that.

You'd better use the original cable and the charger to charge your phone.

Did you check to make sure that fast charging is turned on in the settings?

Mine does. I have an Otter box case on it and it can only charge in the flat position, not standing. There seems to be a sweet spot on the phone to engage charging. I have to adjust placement to find it. Phone on or off, quick charge works great.
