Fatal camera error

So had my pixel 2 since basically Canadian launch, maybe a bit after. No issues with buzzing or Bluetooth ect. I was stoked that I'd been living in pure Google bliss. Then today I fire up the camera to take a pic and encounter a fatal camera error. Did a bunch of on device testing with Google chat, very helpful people actually but unfortunately nothing worked. So she told me it was being escalated and they would contact me in 24/72 hours. Anyone else suffer from this situation? I can take a selfie if I ask Google to, but nothing on the rear shooter.

I have experienced this several times not after the 8.1 update, I always send Google a report when it happens and a few others here have also reported this issue

Did you clear App Cache/Data for the camera app then reboot?

Yeah, did all that. Even a factory reset still nothing.

It's gotta be hardware failure, especially if 3rd party camera apps fail to too.

My 5x has this error recently and the hardware was toast.
