Favorites notifications not coming thru DND

I have messaged and calls from favorite contacts as an exception on SO NOT DISTURB, but notifications are no longer coming through.
I'm hoping it's a simple setting that cycled, but cannot find.

I thought there might be a setting I missed.
I'm still on Oreo.
I looked in the app settings for Google Messages and Phone, but found nothing pertaining to DND.
I rebooted, no joy.
I tried switching to Samsung messages app, same result.
I searched settings for "allow" and the only return was the second screenshot in my original post.
I searched settings for "notification" and the only applicable result is in this screenshot.

Any idea where it might be?

Since you don't have it on Oreo try long press the message app and phone app then tap info>notification>categories>tap each menu and scroll to bottom should be ignore DND ?

Well, I dig some more and found these, which look like the proper settings and turned them on, but Google Messages app notifications for favorites are still not coming through.

Well, I disconnectedmy Samsung Gear Sport and a Google Messages app notification from a favorite contact sounded on the phone itself with DND on.
I looked on the Galaxy Wearable app but could not find a setting that would help.
At least I've made progress, but still frustrating.
